In 2001, mercurial researcher Steven Greer assembled an intriguing but checkered cast of 20-plus people - military and government types, mostly - to publicly allege a massive UFO coverup by the federal government. Six years later, investigative journalist Leslie Kean helped organize a press conference anchored by a steller international panel of eyewitnesses, all of whom would provide the testimonial foundation of her 2010 bestseller, "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record." Also in 2010, "UFOs and Nukes" author Robert Hastings organized half a dozen retired Air Force veterans to discuss their experiences with UFO activity over America's nuclear weapons facilities.
Aside from the subject matter, what all three had in common was the venue - the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. It was chosen for its proximity to the political center of the civilized world in hopes of nudging the MSM into doing a little spadework of its own. We all know how that worked out.
But yo yo yo, look who's booked the NPC stage for the spring of 2013 - erstwhile "X Conference" director Steve Bassett. He's been there many times before, and the last production, in 2010, saddled him with about 20,000 in debt. But that was then. Today, with an assist from a benefactor whose name he declines to reveal, Bassett says he has a clean ledger and 1.1 million for his next project, which he's calling a Citizen Hearing on Disclosure.
"The problem with the other press conferences was, they lasted a couple of hours and then, boom, they were over," he says from Los Angeles. "But this is going to last five days, we're going to get the best witnesses ever brought together in one place, and they'll give their testimony to five former members of Congress. It'll be just like a congressional hearing."
But that's not all. Bassett says the Citizen Hearing - he anticipates convening 40 witnesses - will be streamed live and translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. With a technical assist from Just Cause Entertainment, which specializes in CG cinema and stop-motion productions, the event will be shot in 2D and 3D. On the back end comes a documentary, which will compress 30 hours of testimony into a 90-minute commercial release.
Now, exactly which retired public servants might lend themselves to this Citizen Hearing - to say nothing of the inducements it might take to get them to approach a subject Washington ranks right below smegma - is still a bit murky. The screening has yet to begin, but Bassett says he wants two Republicans, two Dems and one indie, all of whom have had some experience with intelligence, security, or space/science committees.
As for witnesses, they'll be multinational, Bassett says, and "many will be names you've heard before," although the as-yet-unnamed lineup will be announced incrementally at his website. Some of his previous "X Conference" panelists, like former USAF Capt. Bob Salas, who penned a blistering 2009 essay called the "Idiocy of the Disclosure Movement," will definitely not be back.
Anyhow, Bassett's target is the official White House position, articulated last year, that "The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public's eye."
Bassett reasons that if the Citizen Hearing keeps hammering away at the presumed coverup, eight hours a day, for five straight days, April 29-May 3, using quality witnesses, the sheer unrelenting volume of it will force the hand of the MSM bosses.
"The media is the most powerful lever the public has to stick it to government. without the media, it's almost impossible to press the government to take action in the public interest. Our targets are obvious - Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, the Podestas, the Panettas," Bassett says. "We'll create so much public interest, a lot of the editors are gonna say, Christ almighty, enough is enough, that's it, let's get some answers from these guys. And if they ask the right questions, I predict the truth embargo will be over within 60 days."

FOLLOWING our story on UFO sightings, one reader has contacted Your Vale to share his own close encounter.
Ernie Edwards speaking in his first newspaper interview, says he was walking home from work towards Cyffylliog in 1970 when he was met with a circular flying object, which then went on to abduct him.
"It was a lovely moonlit night, and as I looked up, I saw this very bright scarlet light, which became a massive round object with a pulsating light which was only about 50 yards away from me. It looked cigar-shaped to start with, and then changed shape," said Ernie, who now lives in Prestatyn.
"Obviously I knew it was a flying saucer when it changed shape. I was terrified on the spot. It turned on its side and shot off towards a house, and hovered above it."
Ernie, who works as a driver for nursing homes, also described his apparent abduction by the craft and - although he has no memory of how he came aboard - being examined by what he describes as "tall, grey beings".
"The craft appeared to me as an oval-shaped room at the time, where I was laid on a metallic table, as I were in a hospital," said Ernie.
"The beings spoke through their minds to me, telepathically and in a very strange, very fast sort of gibberish. I was just staring at their eyes.
"A couple of days after that experience I came out in a rash, from head to toe. I honestly believe that I had some sort of radiation rash after meeting people not strictly of this world."
Despite the other-worldly nature of his strange meeting, Ernie doesn't necessarily believe these visitors to the Vale were necessarily from another planet.
"It could have been the government testing aircraft of the future, but then again, it could have been visitors from another planet. Until people actually see one themselves and have the experience I did back in 1970, they won't be able to see for themselves," he said.
"With all the sightings in the area recently people should be aware that these things definitely exist. I would never want anything like what happened to me on that day in 1970 to happen to anyone else."

I knew right away it was a ufo because the only airport around was 20km away and only have Cessna planes in there fleet and occasionally a Canadian coast guard helicopter which is bright orange flies over and an air rescue from the hospital. But there has never been more then 3 aircraft in the air at that altitude. The objects just disappeared 1 by one and soon they were all gone.

Call it the deep blue dot. For the first time, scientists have seen the visible color of a distant alien world. The exoplanet - called HD 189733b - is 63 light-years from Earth and a "deep cobalt blue," with raging storms of glass rain and super-fast winds, scientists say.
The alien planet's blue color was pinned down using observations from the Hubble Space Telescope. Although the planet might be the same color as Earth from space, scientists think that HD 189733b is a "hot Jupiter" - a gas giant planet that orbits very close to its star. It takes 2.2 Earth days for the planet to travel fully around its sun.
"This planet has been studied well in the past, both by ourselves and other teams," said Fr'ed'eric Pont of the University of Exeter, U.K., leader of the Hubble observing program in a statement. "But measuring its color is a real first - we can actually imagine what this planet would look like if we were able to look at it directly.
The exoplanet's weather is less than ideal. Its atmosphere is more than 1,832 degrees Fahrenheit (1,000 degrees Celsius) and the planet rains glass sideways in 4,350 mile per hour (7,000 km/h) winds, according to Hubble officials.
In 2007, NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope helped scientists map the weather conditions of the strange alien planet when the spacecraft produced one of the first temperature maps of an exoplanet. The data revealed that temperatures on the day and night sides of the world differ by about 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius), causing the strong winds to blow.

Scientists aren't sure what causes the blue planet's coloration, however.
"It's difficult to know exactly what causes the color of a planet's atmosphere, even for planets in the solar system," Pont said. "But these new observations add another piece to the puzzle over the nature and atmosphere of HD 189733b. We are slowly painting a more complete picture of this exotic planet."
The research team uncovered the planet's color by measuring the light reflected off the surface of the planet.
"We saw the brightness of the whole system drop in the blue part of the spectrum when the planet passed behind its star," Tom Evans of the University of Oxford, U.K., the leader of the study being published in the Aug. 1 issue of the journal Astrophysical Journal Letters said in a statement. "From this, we can gather that the planet is blue, because the signal remained constant at the other colors we measured."
