However, as he approached the 'men' - all over 6ft tall with blond hair - he heard "the sound of static electricity" and the trio ran away 'faster than any man he had ever seen'. The officer returned to his home in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and contacted paranormal experts and told them he had spotted a UFO. I looked away for a second and when I looked back they were gone. 'I then got scared. The noise was still around but I got an uneasy feeling and headed for the car. For the rest of the day I had a pounding headache I couldn't shift.' The bizarre incident occurred on the morning of July 6 this year as the police officer was driving. The officer claims the three figures were examining a crop circle, which had appeared several days earlier, when he stopped his car and began walking towards them. However, the mysterious beings disappeared when he 'looked away for a second' and he contacted UFO experts after witnessing other paranormal activity. A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: 'The police officer was apparently off duty when this happened so we have no comment to make because it is a personal not a police matter.' Crop circle expert Colin Andrews, who investigated the incident alongside Andrew Russell, said he is 'convinced' by the police officer's story. He said: 'I am quite convinced the officer had an experience that day and one that we have not fully explored. 'I think with the unusual movement of the being and the poltergeist experiences there is too much additional information to say that is something in nothing.'

Scientists using data from the lunar-orbiting twins of NASA's Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) mission are gaining new insight into how the face of the moon received its rugged good looks. A report on the asymmetric distribution of lunar impact basins is published in this week's edition of the journal Science.
"Since time immemorial, humanity has looked up and wondered what made the man in the moon," said Maria Zuber, GRAIL principal investigator from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. "We know the dark splotches are large, lava-filled, impact basins that were created by asteroid impacts about four billion years ago. GRAIL data indicate that both the near side and the far side of the moon were bombarded by similarly large impactors, but they reacted to them much differently."
Understanding lunar impact basins has been hampered by the simple fact that there is a lack of consensus on their size. Most of the largest impact basins on the near side of the moon (the moon's face) have been filled with lava flows, which hide important clues about the shape of the land that could be used for determining their dimensions. The GRAIL mission measured the internal structure of the moon in unprecedented detail for nine months in 2012. With the data, GRAIL scientists have redefined the sizes of massive impact basins on the moon.
Maps of crustal thickness generated by GRAIL revealed more large impact basins on the near-side hemisphere of the moon than on the far side. How could this be if both hemispheres were, as widely believed, on the receiving end of the same number of impacts?
Scientists have long known that the temperatures of the near-side hemisphere of the moon were higher than those on the far side: the abundances of the heat producing elements uranium and thorium are higher on the near side than the far side, and as a consequence, the vast majority of volcanic eruptions occurred on the moon's near-side hemisphere.
"Impact simulations indicate that impacts into a hot, thin crust representative of the early moon's near-side hemisphere would have produced basins with as much as twice the diameter as similar impacts into cooler crust, which is indicative of early conditions on the moon's far-side hemisphere," notes lead author Katarina Miljkovic of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.
The new GRAIL research is also helping redefine the concept of the late heavy bombardment, a proposed spike in the rate of crater creation by impacts about 4 billion years ago. The late heavy bombardment is based largely on the ages of large near-side impact basins that are either within, or adjacent to the dark, lava-filled basins, or lunar maria, named Oceanus Procellarum and Mare Imbrium. However, the special composition of the material on and below the surface of the near side implies that the temperatures beneath this region were not representative of the moon as a whole at the time of the late heavy bombardment. The difference in the temperature profiles would have caused scientists to overestimate the magnitude of the basin-forming impact bombardment. Work by GRAIL scientists supports the hypothesis that the size distribution of impact basins on the far-side hemisphere of the moon is a more accurate indicator of the impact history of the inner solar system than those on the near side.
Launched as GRAIL A and GRAIL B in September 2011, the probes, renamed Ebb and Flow by schoolchildren in Montana, operated in a nearly circular orbit near the poles of the moon at an altitude of about 34 miles (55 kilometers) until their mission ended in December 2012. The distance between the twin probes changed slightly as they flew over areas of greater and lesser gravity caused by visible features, such as mountains and craters, and by masses hidden beneath the lunar surface.
JPL, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif. managed GRAIL for NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The mission was part of the Discovery Program managed at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, in Greenbelt, Md., manages the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. Operations of the spacecraft's laser altimeter, which provided supporting data used in this investigation, is led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Lockheed Martin Space Systems in Denver built GRAIL.

I'm not sure why, but I've been fascinated by the Nazi-UFO connection/conspiracy/theory for a long time. Not that I buy into it, I don't, my interest is a distraction, a guilty pleasure, a weird little hobby. It's goofy, in a terrifying and horrible kind of way. Maybe it's the juxtaposition of the hard andevil reality of the Nazis, and the esoteric, "non-reality" (so to speak) of UFOs. Somewhere in between there is the fact the Nazis were involved in the occult and dark secret magick doings, and really did build "ufos."
On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised by anything any more. It was in one of the Illuminati Trilogy books by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson in the early 1970s, where Nazi soldiers underneath a lake were called to life by skinhead neo-nazi rock and rollers; something like that. I read that many years ago but every now and then something happens in the world that makes me think "Any time now, there's going to rise up some vile thing that's going to just overtly take over. No more hiding, covering up or pretending the rest of us are paranoid kooks." That's on my good days. On my bad days, I throw in Giant Reptilians and the reality of Dick Cheney's immortality.
There are reasons why this idea of Nazi UFOs habitating and controlling the earth to this day persists. A sociologist can have herself a good time tackling that one. We did have Operation Paperclip. Dr. Evils abound, then and now. Our government, all governments do heinous things -- and to its own people. Nothing new there. Add in the afore mentioned interest in occultism, and flying disks, and there you go.

Mike Dash's talk on Spring Heel Jack to the Barnes and Mortlake History Society on 5th February last, raised yet again a topic which is of importance to all students of anomalies: the role of the media in shaping our perception of such phenomena.
Of course now we are used to the Internet, television and daily tabloid media and the way they spread and manipulate rumour, but we are perhaps less informed about the historical role of the media in reporting anomalies in the past.
Barnes Common, in south-west London and very close to the site where Mike gave his talk, was one of the first locations where Spring Heel Jack was reported, in September 1837, but this was a very different apparition from the leaping, glowing-eyed, fire breathing demon that we know today. The Barnes creature was described as being in the shape of a large white bull which had attacked a number of women. Later visitations in South and South West London came in the form of figures in metal armour, bears and, approaching the later form, "a devil with iron claws".
Mike has spent an enormous amount of time scouring newspapers for these early accounts, and has documented the way the descriptions begin to coalesce into a 'standard' SHJ figure. The earliest account of this is probably in the attack on Jane Alsop at Old Ford, then a small village east of London, in February 1838.
Eventually the reports began to die off, but the legend of Spring Heel Jack continued. He became a figure in the 'penny-dreadful' comic-books of the era, first as a villain, but soon morphing into an early Superhero. Many of the early reports seem to have been copied from local paper to paper, with perhaps only locations and names changed. This can be put down to the activities of the 'penny-a-line' men, hack journalists who sent reports off to as many papers as possible with little regard to their authenticity. The bread-and-butter work of many of these characters was writing reports of Parliamentary debates, and Mike has noted that SHJ stories blossomed whenever Parliament was in recess!
Eventually it became hard to distinguish fact from fiction, with the monstrous phantom appearing throughout the rest of the nineteenth century in places as far apart as Lincoln, Aldershot and Liverpool.
He also appears to have migrated to North America, where in Newfoundland he appeared as Spring Heel "Jackson"), Australia and New Zealand, perhaps under the influence of exported British penny-dreadfuls. In the USA Mike has found a number of similar reports of leaping horrors, but they were not collected under one category. He has also discovered proto-SHJs as far back as the seventeenth century, and more recent appearances in post-Revolutionary Petrograd, post-WWII Prague, and lawless Somalia in the 1980s.
It doesn't take too much of a leap to see in the growth of this story a parallel to the development of the UFO and abduction narratives. Early reports are varied and often seem unrelated to each other, but as a name is given to the phenomenon, the story develops and spreads, aided by pot-boiler paperbacks, tabloid sensationalism and nowadays the Internet, a standard narrative emerges. Eventually historical UFOs and proto-abductions turn up in the archives.
Later this year Mike will be publishing a book bringing together his own research and that of a number of colleagues, which will collate their findings and present much of the original documentation. This is going to be essential reading for all Forteans and Magonians, and we will bring you further news about it as and when we hear more.
Well, my little poll on Rendlesham finished very neatly, with fifty respondents and the result split 50/50. I suppose the 25 who thought that Rendlesham was an important case still worth investigation might themselves be split between those who thought it was worth study to provide evidence for the ETH and those sceptics who felt the case needed further study because the 'lighthouse' (and other) explanation was inadequate.
But as you might guess, I'm with the "can't be bothered" camp. The latest circus-like shenanigans with a few old ex-military types spinning ever more ludicrous yarns (we now seem to have time-travellers involved) to try and keep themselves in the fading spotlight seem to be no more than an admission that the case is now not only beyond any need for further investigation, but is almost beyond parody. Those of you who are keeping up to speed with the American scene will know that the whole abduction industry is just about on the point of collapse. Carol Rainey, former wife and collaborator of Budd Hopkins has launched a devastating, well-argued attack on his and David Jacobs' research techniques, based on her own personal experiences working alongside Hopkins. Naturally, when this went out the American UFO 'community' (with one or two honourable exceptions) closed ranks around Hopkins and Jacobs and did everything other than deal with the issues raised in Rainey's document.
Jerry 'I love Budd Hopkins' Clark immediately countered with the insinuation, apparently based on his own marital experience, that Rainey, after her divorce from Hopkins, was taking the role of a woman spurned and her claims should be taken with a pinch of salt. Rainey's suggestion that Clark's own opinion on Hopkins might be coloured by his 'best buddy' relationship was angrily dismissed!
Most of the current debate on these revelations, as revealed on UFO UpDates, seems to be floundering on technicalities about the status of David Jacob's research in regard to his Temple University post, and ignores the substantive charges made by Rainey. Other responses are mostly along the lines of "I met Budd Hopkins once, and I thought he was a really nice guy". I suppose I could counter that I met Budd Hopkins once and thought he was a bit of a pompous ass, but neither response really gets us anywhere, does it?

UFO sightings are being investigated by the Ministry of Defence.
Two experienced airline pilots on separate flights saw something up to a mile wide off the coast of Alderney on Monday afternoon.
Surprisingly, Jersey radar equipment did not pick up the object, although an air traffic controller said he had received simultaneous reports from the Aurigny and Blue Islands pilots.
Aurigny's Captain Ray Bowyer, 50, said he saw the strange object during a flight from Southampton.
He spotted a bright-yellow light 10 miles west of Alderney while his plane was about 30 miles from the island and at 4,000ft.
'It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area. It was 2,000ft up and stationary,' he said.
'I thought it was about 10 miles away, although I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I thought it was the size of a 737.'
A 737 is slightly smaller than a jumbo jet.
'But it must have been much bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a mile wide.'
As he continued his approach to Alderney, Capt. Bowyer saw a second identical object further to the west.
'It was exactly the same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to Guernsey.'
The sightings come days after reports that scientists have discovered outside our solar system an Earth-like planet capable of supporting extraterrestrial life.
'I can't explain it. At first, I thought it might have been a reflection from a vinery in Guernsey, but that would have disappeared quickly. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes.'
The sightings happened at about 3pm. Capt. Bowyer, who has flown commercial planes for about 20 years, said he had described the objects to air traffic control and filled in an incident report.
'As I got closer to it, it became clear to me that it was tangible. I was in two minds about going towards it to have a closer look but decided against it because of the size of it. I had to think of the safety of the passengers first.'
He added that the experience had been quite scary.
'I'm certainly not saying that it was something of another world. All I'm saying is that I have never seen anything like it before in all my years of flying.'
Paul Kelly, 31, the air traffic controller who was on duty, said the Blue Islands pilot had made a similar report, but nothing had appeared on his radar.
'The pilot from Blue Islands was en route to Jersey at the same time and as he went past Sark he described an object behind him to his left,' he said.
'The description was very similar to Captain Bowyer's and they described it as being in exactly the same place. But they were looking at it from opposite sides.'
The pilot told him the object had been 1,500ft beneath his plane.
'The Blue Islands plane was at 3,500ft at the time so, again, both pilots placed it at the same altitude.
'If the object was stationary, our equipment would not have picked it up because the radar would have screened it out.'

The scientific approach to archons

A new program uses your USB webcam to scan the skies for UFOs, and when it spots something that is not a bird, airplane, or other known object, it will record the UFO for you to review later.
The program was created by ProjectCE: Connecting Evidence, and is simply called UFO Detector. It is available for free on their website.
According to the site, the program includes a "detection algorithm that looks for light emitting object which cannot be identified."
In other words, it will be able to detect whether the object is something mundane or not. In order to help improve the algorithm, users can submit pictures of objects that UFO Detector suspects are UFOs that obviously are not. These "false-positives" will presumably then help the software not make the same mistake in the future.

NASA Invites Public to Send Names And Messages to Mars WASHINGTON -- NASA is inviting members of the public to submit their names and a personal message online for a DVD to be carried aboard a spacecraft that will study the Martian upper atmosphere.
The DVD will be in NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft, which is scheduled for launch in November. The DVD is part of the mission's Going to Mars Campaign coordinated at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (CU/LASP).
The DVD will carry every name submitted. The public also is encouraged to submit a message in the form of a three-line poem, or haiku. However, only three haikus will be selected. The deadline for all submissions is July 1. An online public vote to determine the top three messages to be placed on the DVD will begin July 15.
"The Going to Mars campaign offers people worldwide a way to make a personal connection to space, space exploration, and science in general, and share in our excitement about the MAVEN mission," said Stephanie Renfrow, lead for the MAVEN Education and Public Outreach program at CU/LASP.
Participants who submit their names to the Going to Mars campaign will be able to print a certificate of appreciation to document their involvement with the MAVEN mission.
"This new campaign is a great opportunity to reach the next generation of explorers and excite them about science, technology, engineering and math," said Bruce Jakosky, MAVEN principal investigator from CU/LASP. "I look forward to sharing our science with the worldwide community as MAVEN begins to piece together what happened to the Red Planet's atmosphere."
MAVEN is the first spacecraft devoted to exploring and understanding the Martian upper atmosphere. The spacecraft will investigate how the loss of Mars' atmosphere to space determined the history of water on the surface.
"This mission will continue NASA's rich history of inspiring and engaging the public in spaceflight in ongoing Mars exploration," said David Mitchell, MAVEN project manager at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.
MAVEN's principal investigator is based at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. The university will provide science operations, science instruments and lead Education and Public Outreach. Goddard manages the project and provides two of the science instruments for the mission. Lockheed Martin of Littleton, Colo., built the spacecraft and is responsible for mission operations. The University of California at Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory provides science instruments for the mission. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., provides navigation support, the Deep Space Network and the Electra telecommunications relay hardware and operations.

I always assumed that most fantastical UFO stories occurred only in the past. The 'Flatwoods UFO incident', 'The Shag Harbour', The Rendlesham Forest incident....
But what occurred one cloudy morning in 2006 at Chicago's international O'Hare airport could potentially be a modern marvel in Ufology. On November 7th, 2006, an employee noticed a large, dark disc hovering above the runway space. The employee quickly realized that what they were looking at was not normal and should not be floating there in the middle of a busy airspace.
The word spread through the staff's radios of a mysterious floating object above O'hare International. Pilots, air traffic controllers, employees, and travelers alike bore witness to the hovering UFO. There were reports of pilots peering out their cockpit windows in the runway and staff going outside for a better look of the object. In the midst of all the commotion and without warning, the disc broke away. Shooting straight up through the cloud bank that blanketed the airport, piercing straight through the thickness and leaving a large visible hole punched through the clouds. The UFO had zipped up into the sky at an incredible speed according to the witnesses.
A reporter soon got wind of what had transpired at O'hare and inquiries were made to the United Airlines to follow up with the initial report from their employee. United Airlines denied such a thing occurred and claimed to know nothing of the incident. The reporter from the Chicago Tribune then began making calls to the FAA to see if they had any information.
The Federal Aviation Administration responded just as the airline did and claimed no knowledge of any strange aerial reports during that time. Days passed and rumors began to swirl about a coverup. The airport officials and the FAA both denied any knowledge of the incident and claimed that there had been no reports even through hundreds of those who were traveling at the time continued to talk....

Godzilla is back. At least in the popular imagination. NPR reports that Wikipedia searches for the 1950's horror film icon are up significantly. The reason? Perhaps, an exploration of fear. Godzilla, as you may remember, was created in the movies due to radioactivity caused by atomic bombs. The Godzilla searches are seen by some social scientists as a way for us to explore our fear about radiation leaks and, of course, those fears are now sky high, thanks to the nuclear crisis in Japan.
Grady Hendrix, co-director of the New York Asian Film Festival, had an interesting quote in the piece:
"Movies are where we rehearse our fears."
So, what about fear of extraterrestrials? I think you can put most scary extraterrestrial movies into four general categories of fear:
PERSONAL ATTACK AND VIOLATION: This is perhaps the scariest of scenarios, because it involves personal violation. The alien abduction movies would be the best examples. Abduction and experimentation are often done at night and when a person is asleep. "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" certainly starts out this way. "Communion" is perhaps the classic tale of a family tormented by aliens. Hollywood upped the ante recently, with the "Fourth Kind", which did not fare as well at the box office. The primary fears are a loss of free will and a loss of privacy. Aliens have powers beyond our imagining and they do with us as they want. We won't even bother discussing the use of probes.
CORRUPTION OF THE INDIVIDUAL AND SOCIETY: In a sense, this is the broader version of the personal attack. My personal favorite was the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." There is an element of personal violation, but the trend is toward a subversion of human society. The TV series "V", both in the original and remake, take this conspiracy to new levels and point to what could be the most profound fear for humans: the aliens will take over our society. Once again, the loss of free will is a major factor.
ALL-OUT ATTACK: Hollywood loves this plot, probably because Hollywood loves to blow stuff up and alien invasion movies provide plenty of opportunities. In fact, it seems that directors spend a great deal of time deciding what well-known structures to explode. "Independence Day" blew up the White House. "Battle: L.A." takes the whole city down, one building at a time. However, it's interesting to note that in both of those examples the humans are able to fight back. And they all return to the same theme first popularized by H.G. Wells with "War of the Worlds": we don't know exactly why they're out to get us, but they are, and we'd better do something about it. Often, extinction is the ultimate fear in these movies. However, loss of free will and enslavement are also motivators.
WE'RE NOT WORTHY: This is a slightly more esoteric fear, explored very nicely in the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (and not so well in the remake). The idea is that the aliens are worried about what we humans might do to ourselves, and the rest of the universe. Humans are basically bad, but with some redeeming characteristics. There is usually an ultimatum of some sort. The primary fear is that we are not worthy of hanging-out with the more developed extraterrestrials. Many of us like this plot, because it infers that we are probably our own worst enemy. And history tends to support that theory.
Film buffs will be quick to point out that most alien movies have an underlying fear that might have nothing to do with space aliens. "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is thought to be an exploration of fears of communism. Godzilla was just one of many examples of how people worried about the nuclear age, both in the 1950's, and apparently now. However, if you consider extraterrestrial First Contact in any form, you would want to explore the fears that would accompany such an event. They would grow in correlation to the amount of interaction involved in a First Contact event. If we merely intercept some far off message, it would be one level of fear. If the aliens land in Baltimore and take in a ballgame at Camden Yards, it would be a much greater degree of fear.
We would be naive to think that fear would not be an important issue After First Contact. While such an occurrence may not provoke open panic in the streets, it would certainly be a background worry, and one that could impact important decision making for world leaders, scientists and the general public.
How do we get over our fears? I suppose it can only come through facing reality. If we ever get the opportunity to meet members of an extraterrestrial civilization, we will need to explore these concerns. I would suggest that the best way would be to consider them openly. Caution is a pretty important characteristic of the human personality. It keeps us safe. Turning fear into reasonable caution would make sense. Fear isn't entirely irrational. All of the previous scenarios could be plausible in the wake of First Contact. Talking about them openly, and forming a framework to protect ourselves, might be the best medicine of all. And hey, we've had plenty of rehearsal time to get ready for the big performance. Thanks Hollywood.

We live near an airport and see planes flying over all the time. However, this night I mentioned to my fiance, joking at first, that this one light looked odd and was a ufo. I meant nothing of it at first but we both started watching it for a while because it was flying very slow and was large. It kept coming towards oour house, maybe a mile out or so. It was dark so all we could see was a light but it wasn't like any light I've seen on a plane before. It got as close as a field less than a half mile from our house, still visible from our Window By tthis time we were both standing in front of the Window trying to figure out what this thing was. Then suddenly it dropped a green glowing "blob" into the field and flew off slightly quicker than its original pace. We heard no noise. NASA is developing a lunar rover to find and analyze water and other materials trapped in deep freezes at the moon's poles and to demonstrate how water can be made on site.
Slated to fly in November 2017, the mission, called Regolith and Environment Science and Oxygen and Lunar Volatile Extraction (RESOLVE), will have a week to accomplish its goals.
To stay within a tight 250 million budget cap -- including the rocket ride to the moon -- project managers are planning to use solar energy to power the rover's systems and science instruments. However, sunlight on the places where water and other volatiles may be trapped only occurs for a few days at a time.
NEWS: Probe Finds Moon's Shackleton Crater Pretty Dry "To do a mission of any significance (at the lunar poles) it would take nuclear power, but we don't have that kind of money," said William Larson, a recently retired project manager at NASA's Kennedy Space Center "Solar-powered missions are more affordable and that's the way we're going to try to go," Larson said.That leaves scientists with a long to-do list and a very tight timeline.Upon landing on the moon, the rover would have about 2.5 days of sunlight to get started searching for hydrogen, then hibernate for two days of shadow. The rest of the mission would play out over the next five days of sunlight and would include drilling about 1 meter (3.3 feet) deep into the ground to extract a sample for mineral analysis.The sample also would be heated in hopes of producing liquid water. "That is the most challenging timeline of any surface mobility mission NASA has ever attempted before -- and we're trying to do it on the cheap," he added.
RESOLVE builds upon the ongoing Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mapping mission and the 2009 impacts of its companion LCROSS spacecraft and rocket motor into a permanently shadowed crater called Cabeus, located near the moon's south pole. LCROSS is an acronym for the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite.
Material blasted above the crater's rim during the impacts and other analysis showed the crater contains about 5 percent frozen water. The origin of the water, however, remains a mystery.
RESOLVE may provide some answers. The rover's science instruments are designed to analyze hydrogen isotopes in any water recovered, an experiment that may at least narrow down the options of where it came from. The theories range from water-rich comets and asteroids crashing onto the surface to indigenous water supplies inside the moon that were transported during past volcanic eruptions.
The mission also is expected to provide some ground truth for ongoing efforts to determine what minerals are on the moon.
"The polar regions of the moon are extremely cold. This is of very great interest because there's the possibility for trapping a wide range of volatiles in these areas," said lunar scientist David Paige, with the University of California at Los Angeles.

Larson outlined the RESOLVE project at the Lunar Superconductor Applications workshop in Cocoa Beach, Fla., last week. NASA plans to partner with the Canadian Space Agency on the project. A simulated mission was conducted in Hawaii this summer.

Still reading Colin Bennett's Looking for Orthon, his book on George Adamski. (I'm a fast reader, but I also have this habit of reading more than one book at a time. And, contrary to what many an anti, non-UFOist blogger insists, I "do" have a life. Really.)
The latest is this: it's not so easy -- as so often happens in UFOlogy and Forteana -- to dismiss Adamski as merely a faker, a liar, a huckster. Oh, if it were that simple.
If it were just Adamski that saw, or said he saw, those fantastic flying saucers, we could either put him in the basket of anomalies, or kick him to the curb in grand chronic skeptic fashion.
But others saw the saucers too. Many times.
So" now "what?
Adamski was also visited by government officials on a few occasions. Why?
I'm not an Adamski expert, in fact, the only book I've read concerning Adamski (and I'm not finished with that yet) is Bennett's. But now I'm hooked, and can't wait to get to other books on Adamski.
A slight tangent here; I've always suspected that Adamski, and many of the Contactees were victims, or products, of some sort of massive manipulation. Whether the manipulators were "Messengers of Deception," as Vallee wrote about, The Trickster, the government with its various spooks, spies, and MIBS, or some combination, who can say. There are intriguing clues in Bennett's book; I don't know if he'll go there.
But I'm looking forward to discovering more.

New Obama Advisor John Podesta An Advocate For UFO Disclosure

For all of you who hope the U.S. government will lift the veil on its alleged stockpile of evidence that Earth is being visited by extraterrestrials -- take heart.
This week, former Clinton chief of staff and UFO advocate John Podesta was named as President Obamas newest advisor.
Podesta, 64, has more than once publicly urged the U.S. government to release any UFO files that could help scientists determine "the real nature of this phenomenon."
Podestas stance on UFOs can be seen in the following video clip from the 2009 James Fox film, "I KNOW WHAT I SAW". Podesta spoke at a 2002 news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where he called upon the U.S. government "to declassify [UFO] records that are more than 25 years old."

Christmas. The time of year when fundamental zealots demonstrate their thuggery and paranoia by lamenting in public forums how "the left stole Christmas." Time for the the non-religious but vaguely superstitious kind of,sort of,Christians experience vague free floating anxiety. This time of year many Jews and non-Christians experience conflicting emotions. As my husband commented to me the other night, "Only you would be playing Christmas CDs while lighting the Menorah."
As for myself, I'll occasionally tweak the incessantly grinning xian who gets in my face about "Merry Christmas" if they're pulling some passive -aggressive political tactic on me, but otherwise, I'm comfortable with my expression of it all. Being the only Jewish Pagan whatever on the job, I was the one who brought in the Christmas decorations and wore my Santa hat. I do what I do, and I like it. Twinkling lights and home made fudge and gifts, because I want to. Toys for Tots and lots of cheer. I'm not making a statement, or maybe I am, but I'm having a great time this season, Yule, Solstice, Hanukkah, whatever. It's the season, yes, and what it means and why is different for everyone. I'm not trying to take away anything from anyone, but I'll celebrate, share and observe the way I choose.
It "is" a magickal time of year. Any way you choose.
UFOs aren't exempt from the Christmas season either. It's where the could be reality of ET meets the commercial lore of Santa Claus and the sacred myth of Christmas. Somewhere in between the two is a merging of realities. Aliens turn green as they meet elves. Scientists use Santa Claus to explain science. The market place appropriates it all and repackages it for us in strange blends. It's just part of the season, and the Trickster energy inherent within UFOlogy and Forteana.
It's interesting, all the greenery. Green aliens, green elves, green Grinches, little green men, The Green Man... What it means, many have pondered. Including me. There seems to be an obvious relationship with this and nature energies. Which in turn leads to a terrestrial based hypothesis for alien entities. All just seasonal musings for the moment.
