NASA-funded lunar research has yielded evidence of water locked in mineral grains on the surface of the moon from an unknown source deep beneath the surface.
Using data from NASA's Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) instrument aboard the Indian Space Research Organization's Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft, scientists remotely detected magmatic water, or water that originates from deep within the moon's interior, on the surface of the moon.
The findings, published Aug. 25 in Nature Geoscience, represent the first detection of this form of water from lunar orbit. Earlier studies had shown the existence of magmatic water in lunar samples returned during the Apollo program.
M3 imaged the lunar impact crater Bullialdus, which lies near the lunar equator. Scientists were interested in studying this area because they could better quantify the amount of water inside the rocks due to the crater's location and the type of rocks it held. The central peak of the crater is made up of a type of rock that forms deep within the lunar crust and mantle when magma is trapped underground.
"This rock, which normally resides deep beneath the surface, was excavated from the lunar depths by the impact that formed Bullialdus crater," said Rachel Klima, a planetary geologist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Md.
"Compared to its surroundings, we found that the central portion of this crater contains a significant amount of hydroxyl - a molecule consisting of one oxygen atom and one hydrogen atom -- which is evidence that the rocks in this crater contain water that originated beneath the lunar surface," Klima said.
In 2009, M3 provided the first mineralogical map of the lunar surface and discovered water molecules in the polar regions of the moon. This water is thought to be a thin layer formed from solar wind hitting the moon's surface. Bullialdus crater is in a region with an unfavorable environment for solar wind to produce significant amounts of water on the surface.
"NASA missions like Lunar Prospector and the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite and instruments like M3 have gathered crucial data that fundamentally changed our understanding of whether water exists on the surface of the moon," said S. Pete Worden, center director at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. "Similarly, we hope that upcoming NASA missions such as the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, or LADEE, will change our understanding of the lunar sky."
The detection of internal water from orbit means scientists can begin to test some of the findings from sample studies in a broader context, including in regions that are far from where the Apollo sites are clustered on the near side of the moon. For many years, researchers believed that the rocks from the moon were bone-dry and any water detected in the Apollo samples had to be contamination from Earth.
"Now that we have detected water that is likely from the interior of the moon, we can start to compare this water with other characteristics of the lunar surface," said Klima. "This internal magmatic water also provides clues about the moon's volcanic processes and internal composition, which helps us address questions about how the moon formed, and how magmatic processes changed as it cooled."
APL is a not-for-profit division of Johns Hopkins University. Joshua Cahill and David Lawrence of APL and Justin Hagerty of the U.S. Geological Survey's Astrogeology Science Center in Flagstaff, Ariz., co-authored the paper. NASA's Lunar Advanced Science and Engineering Program, the NASA Lunar Science Institute (NLSI) at Ames and the NASA Planetary Mission Data Analysis Program supported the research. RESEARCHERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, KNOXVILLE, ARE ONCE AGAIN TURNING WHAT SCIENTISTS THOUGHT THEY KNEW ABOUT THE MOON ON ITS HEAD.
Last fall, researchers, including Larry Taylor, a distinguished professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, discovered "lunar dew" on the moon's surface -- absorbed "water" in the uppermost layers of lunar soil. This discovery of water debunked beliefs held since the return of the first Apollo rocks that the moon was bone-dry.
Now, scientists, including Taylor and Yang Liu, research assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, have discovered that water on the moon is more widespread -- on the outside and inside of the moon -- with some similarities to water in volcanic systems on Earth.
Their research will be featured in the article, "Lunar Apatite with Terrestrial Volatile Abundances" in the July 22 edition of the scientific journal, Nature.
Unlike lunar dew which is believed to come from an outside source such as solar wind which brings hydrogen into contact with the Moon's oxygen, the water discovered by Taylor and Liu is internal, arising from an entirely different origin. How it got there is not yet known. The water may have been added by impacting comets, which contain ice, during or after the formation of the moon and Earth.
The existence of volcanoes on the moon more than 4 billion years ago gave the researchers a clue that water might exist inside the body, since the dynamics of volcanoes on Earth are mostly driven by water. Therefore, the scientists made their novel discovery by examining a lunar basalt brought back from the 1971 Apollo 14 mission. Using secondary ion mass spectrometry at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif., scientists determined volatile elements in a calcium phosphate mineral are very similar in the same mineral found on Earth.
The scientists said this provides "robust evidence for the presence of water in the interior of the moon from where some lunar rocks were derived. This demonstrates a closer chemical and geologic relationship between the Earth and moon than previously known. We must now re-evaluate the volatile inventories of the moon, relative to the Earth."

The finding of volatiles on the moon has deep implications for how it, and the Earth, formed. It is generally believed that the moon was created when the early Earth was hit by a Mars-sized proto-planet called Theia, melting and vaporizing itself and a large chunk of the Earth. The cloud of particles created by the impact later congealed to form the moon, which supposedly was devoid of highly volatile elements such as hydrogen and chlorine. However, the researchers' discovery of these volatiles challenges this theory.
"If water in the Moon was residue water kept during the giant impact, it is surprising that water survived the impact at all because less volatile elements, such as sodium and potassium, are strongly depleted. The details of the impact theory need to be re-examined," Liu said.
The discovery of abundant and ubiquitous water on the moon could mean a human settlement on the moon is not so far-fetched. Currently, the endeavour would be very expensive. For example, it costs 25,000 to take one pint of water to the moon.
However, if scientists devise processes to easily recover this water from the lunar rocks for drinking water and fuel, a human settlement is not out of reach.
"Now we have ready sources of water that can be consumed by plants and humans but also electrolyzed into liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen to develop rocket fuel," Taylor said. "Until the recent discovery of water in and on the moon, it was going to be a very energy-intensive endeavor to separate these elements from the lunar rocks and soil."

Thanks for reading my email. I had an incident this past weekend that has me wondering what is fact or fiction. This past Monday night I was driving home from work around 9:45 PM. I live in a very rural area south of Falls Village, CT. and I was only 2 miles from my residence. The roads were still slick from the heavy snow we had received, so I was driving very deliberately. All at once, a deer jumped from behind a snow bank and bolted in front of my car. I slammed on the brakes but still skidded into the back of the deer. I didn't see where the deer went, but I was now stuck in the snow bank. I got out of the car and noticed that my driver's side headlight was smashed as well. I tried to push the car out the snow bank but it was not budging. So I had no choice other than to call for a tow truck.
About 15 minutes after I called for help, one of my neighbors was on his way home and stopped to ask if he could help. I told him I had called for a tow truck but I didn't know how long it be before it showed up. He said that he would go home, grab some chains and return with his 4-wheel drive pickup in order to pull me out. I thanked him and he left.
Not long after my neightbor left, I noticed lights coming toward me on the road. The lights were large and very bright, so I figured that it was the tow truck. As the lights slowly proceeded towards me several more lights illuminated above and below the others. The vehicle, or whatever it was, stopped about 50 yards from me and remained there for several minutes. Then all of a sudden I witnessed a brightly lit 'being' floating through the woods across from me. It reminded me of those bright white aliens from the 'Cocoon' movie though I didn't see any facial features. This being quickly floated through the trees then out onto the road. It started to come towards me but I was petrified. I just could not move. It didn't have arms or legs but there was definitely a head and something on the end that resembled a fish tail. It stopped directly in front of me and hovered no more than 10 feet away. There were no eyes or mouth, but I did feel warmth coming from it. It was very calming and comforting. Then it suddenly whisked towards the lights. After a few minutes the bright lights started to fade until it was completely gone.
My neighbor soon returned, as well as the tow truck operator. I asked them both if they had noticed any vehicle with intense bright lights, but they both looked at me like I was crazy. After they pulled me from the snow bank I drove home, quickly took a bath and headed for bed. I was still feeling a calming sensation and desperately wanted to go to sleep.
I was off work on Tuesday so I decided to go and have my headlight fixed. As I approached the area where I had been stuck the night before, I noticed that the area where the lights were was completely barren of snow and the roadway was dry. Did I have an alien close encounter? To be honest with you, I don't believe in UFOs, aliens or any of that weird stuff. But I am having seconds thought as to what I witnessed. Was it simply a spirit of some kind? I have had dealings with ghosts and spirits since I was young. What is your opinion? Beth

The Aztec Incident occurred in March 1948, just 8 months after the Roswell Incident, and based on information now available it appears the government and military had learned from their mistakes at Roswell. Aztec had no newspaper or radio reports as Roswell did, when the Incident happened, which then had to be covered up and excuses given for the next 65 years.
Over the years since Aztec happened there has been very little information forthcoming, in fact there were only 2 books published about the event, again unlike Roswell. The first was Frank Scully's, "Behind the Flying Saucers", published in September 1950. The second book was co-written by William Steinman and Wendelle Stevens entitled, "UFO Crash at Aztec", and published in 1986. Both of those books created controversy, and created more questions than answers. Who was the mysterious "Dr. Gee", how could a 99' diameter craft be moved from the site to a secure location, and was the whole incident the work of con-men as many debunkers and critics have argued? There lies a similarity to Roswell in that debunkers and critics don't normally do the research required, as was the case with Karl Pflock and Dave Thomas, who were two of the most vocal debunkers of the Aztec Incident.
Finally in 2012 a third book has been published, co-authored by Scott and Suzanne Ramsey, entitled, "The Aztec Incident, Recovery at Hart Canyon", ISBN 978-0-9850046-0-6 (left). The unending research, travel to archives, witness interviews and expenses encountered by the Ramsey's have finally answered some of the questions we have all had about Aztec over the years. When Scott began his research some 25 years ago he assumed he would be able to prove or disprove the Aztec Incident within a few months. That didn't happen and the more he delved into the facts about Aztec the more questions were raised. During his many trips to Aztec he met and finally married Suzanne, who became his co-author, and together they have compiled a book full of factual information, (with documentation to support their findings), that will have many taking another look at the 1948 Aztec Incident.
The town of Aztec had noticed the notoriety Roswell was getting with the annual Roswell Festival, and decided to start their own annual symposium in an attempt to raise money for a new library. I was invited to speak at the first symposium held in Aztec in 1998 (the 50th anniversary of the event.) Since then I have attended at least 8 of the annual events as either a speaker or Master of Ceremonies, and it was at these symposiums that I met Scott and Suzanne Ramsey and became seriously interested in the Aztec Incident. Like many others having read the first two books published I had many questions about whether Aztec was a real event or not. Working with the Ramsey's and others, discussing witnesses, visiting the crash site in Hart Canyon and other research we've done together, I soon became convinced that the Ramsey's were in fact revealing new information not previously known. Their "Aztec Incident" book lays to rest many of the questions that have been asked over the years.
The Aztec Symposium began growing with attendance increasing every year, primarily due to the well-known researchers that were invited to speak each year at the annual event. The list of speakers invited to Aztec was like a "who's who" of Ufology and the Aztec symposium became one of the most popular in the country, reaching a point where consideration was given to moving it to Farmington, a larger town a few miles west of Aztec that could facilitate the ever-increasing crowds.
Not all city fathers in Aztec supported the annual event, however through the friends of the Library a new library was built which the town of Aztec can be proud of. Recently someone now responsible for inviting speakers, decided to change the type researchers invited leaning more toward the paranormal types. That resulted in a reduction in the number of people attending, and last year an announcement was made that the annual Aztec symposium would no longer take place. Scott and Suzanne Ramsey, Randy Barnes, myself and a few others devoted a lot of hours over the years to make the Aztec symposium an event visitors looked forward to, and researchers such as Stanton Friedman, Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Ted Phillips, Timothy Good and many others were an important part of making Aztec a respectable conference where serious researchers were able to share their knowledge with a receptive audience.
Reading through the Ramsey's book, one gets an appreciation for the hours of work involved in writing such an account. It contains many pages of government documents and correspondence, in addition to the travel involved to 26 states, universities, military archives and witnesses interviewed. This was not a couple of months project as Scott had anticipated originally, but rather a devotion to finding factual information with verification to determine if the Aztec Incident was a true event in 1948. I believe the Ramsey's (pictured above) have accomplished that, revealing information for the first time pertaining to different aspects of the Incident, which leave little doubt in the minds of the reader that Aztec was a real event, covered up by the military and government much better than the Roswell Incident had been when it happened 8 months earlier.
It appears that the mysterious "Dr. Gee" was in fact at least 8 different scientists combined under that one name. Moving the craft was thoroughly researched using an expert that had years of experience in moving large loads, determining the proper route, and considering the equipment that would have been available in 1948. The so-called con men referred to by many of the debunkers in the first two books is thoroughly discussed and explained as nothing more then a retaliation by a J.P. Cahn to get even with people for not allowing him to print the Aztec story. Radar sites basically unknown to the public were discovered within a reasonable distance of Hart Canyon and operational in 1948. Many of the first hand witnesses testimony revealed in this book, refers to oil field workers, law enforcement officers, a preacher, and others who were at the site at Hart Canyon in 1948, and saw the bodies inside the craft, and then sworn to secrecy by the military.
"The Aztec Incident" book is a must read and leaves no doubt that a craft came down in Hart Canyon a few miles east of Aztec New Mexico in March 1948, basically undamaged, containing bodies, was taken apart and transported off of the mesa, and remains covered up to this day, 64 years later.

The asteroid's name is 99942 Apophis - Apophis being the name for an evil spirit of destruction in Egyptian myth and an appropriate name for this Near Earth Object (NEO) discovered in 2004 by Roy A. Tucker, David J. Tholen, and Fabrizio Bernardi of the NASA-funded University of Hawaii Asteroid Survey from Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona. The asteroid was initially named '2004 MN4. Scientists at the time insisted that there was very little time left to prepare a defense strategy for a possible collision. Technology to deflect the asteroid, they said, would take decades to design, test and build.
NASA had estimated that an impact from Apophis, which has an outside chance of hitting the Earth in 2036, would have released more than 100,000 times the energy released in the nuclear blast over Hiroshima. Thousands of square kilometers would be directly affected by the blast but the whole of the Earth would see the effects of the dust released into the atmosphere.
As Monica Grady, an expert in meteorites at the Open University, said:
"It's a question of when, not if, a near Earth object collides with Earth. Many of the smaller objects break up when they reach the Earth's atmosphere and have no impact. However, a NEO larger than 1km [wide] will collide with Earth every few hundred thousand years and a NEO larger than 6km, which could cause mass extinction, will collide with Earth every hundred million years. We are overdue for a big one."
Apophis had been intermittently tracked since its discovery in June 2004 but in December 2005, it began to cause serious concern As of this time, the chances of Apophis hitting Earth has been reduced to 1 in 12.3 million.
In projecting the likely orbit of the Apophis into the future, astronomers calculated that the odds of it hitting the Earth in 2029 were alarming and the odds got higher as more observations were received. At the peak of the scientists' concern, Apophis asteroid was placed at 4 out of 10 on the Torino scale - a measure of the threat posed by an NEO where 10 is a certain collision which could cause a global catastrophe. This was the highest of any asteroid in recorded history and it had a 1 in 37 chance of hitting the Earth. The threat of a collision in 2029 was eventually ruled out at the end of 2004 and the collision date extended to approximately 2036. The Torino scale threat has also been lowered to 0 out of 10.
Alan Fitzsimmons, an astronomer from Queen's University Belfast, has stated that the asteroid should pass close to earth on April 13th 2029 and when it does:
the Earth will deflect it and change its orbit. There's a small possibility that if it passes through a particular point in space, the so-called keyhole, the Earth's gravity will change things so that when it comes back around again in 2036, it will collide with us."
The chance of Apophis passing through the keyhole, a 600-metre patch of space, was 1 in 5,500 based on information in 2005 but as of the most recent information, it is now 1 in 45,000.
The Advanced Concepts Team at the European Space Agency have led the effort in designing a range of satellites and rockets to nudge asteroids on a collision course to Earth into a different orbit. Even nuclear powered spacecraft are being considered but the negative aspect of nuclear powered is that it has not yet been put to the test as is the case with solar electric propulsion, for which there are already several spacecraft that do use the latter technology.
The European Space Agency (ESA) favoured method is also one of the easiest methods - to throw a spacecraft at an asteroid to change its direction. ESA plans to test the idea with its Don Quixote mission, where two satellites will be sent to an asteroid. One of the spacecraft, Hidalgo, will collide with the asteroid at high speed while the other, Sancho, will measure the change in the object's orbit. Decisions on the actual design of these probes were to be made in 2006, with an expected launch to take place sometime between 2007 and 2017 launch expected some time in the next decade. Astronomers are not considering the use of explosives as an option due to the fact of potential spread of damage by the collision of many fragments.
In September 2005, scientists at Strathclyde and Glasgow universities began computer simulations to work out the feasibility of changing the directions of asteroids on a collision course for Earth.
POSSIBLE EFFECTS OF IMPACT
NASA initially estimated the energy that Apophis would have released if it struck Earth as the equivalent of 1480 megatons of TNT but later refined this to 880 megatons. The impacts which created the Barringer Crater of the Tunguska event are estimated to be in the 10-20 megaton range and the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa was the equivalent of roughly 200 megatons.
The exact effects of any impact of an asteroid varies according to the asteroid's composition, and its the location and angle of impact. UFO SIGHTING IN SELKIRK, NEW YORK ON NOVEMBER 18TH 2013 - GLOWING HOVERING LIGHT- APPROACHED BY TWO HELICOPTORS AND 2 JETS THEN DISAPPEAREDI was at work when my wife was pulling into the rail yard to come and get me. She mentioned at around 5:00pm that she was waiting outside in the truck but is scared because she believes she sees a UFO. I leave work and get in the truck and we begin to pull away when I noticed the light as well. I had her pull over so we could look at it a bit longer. I wanted to make sure it wasn't an airplane or a star or planet visible. After only a few minutes- 2-3 tops= I noticed QTY 2 helicopters s well as 2 jets flying towards where the light is. Close by is a small airport, however there is NEVER this much traffic converging in one location at any given time of the day. As the Helicopters approach the light it slowly begins to fade and then rapidly disappears- (Cloud Cover was OVERHEAD) this thing did not become concealed by clouds. The Helicopters remained in the location for another 15-20 minutes circling the location where the light was. The Jets made two paths through where the light was located and scrambled elsewhere. We continued on out of the railyard and followed Route 32 on our way home- n the Southwest horizon we see the light again- only Orange in color. It was certainly moving as it seemed to keep the pace with our vehicle. At this point we tried to follow (take roads to get us closer) in come the jets flying towards the light again. Moments later the light simply is gone. The light was moving South west to north west- from Vorheesville New york Towards Schenectady New York. Interest in government sponsored UFO investigations has caused government agencies to make special concessions, and according to the article, some lawsuits initiated by UFO investigators have become landmark cases for governing what the government needs to release and how.Kel McClanahan, an attorney specializing in national security and privacy law, told "The Week", "Every major military agency receives an enormous amount of requests about UFOs." He says they get a flood of requests every time the news reports a UFO sighting.In particular they note the work of John Greenewald, the owner of the website TheBlackVault.com, who has amassed over 700,000 pages of government documents through Freedom of Information Act Requests (FOIA). The Black Vault website houses the hundreds of thousands of files retrieved by John Greenewald via FOIA requests. (Credit: www.TheBlackVault.com) "The Week" examines three cases in particular that have had a lasting effect on government transparency. The first is the case of Ground Saucer Watch versus the CIA. "The Week" refers to this as one case which Ground Saucer Watch lost. However, an article on the CIA's website on their involvement in UFO research written by Gerald Haines, a historian for the National Reconnaissance Office, shows it was in fact two cases. The first of which was very successful (see clarification by Kel McClanahan in the comments below).According to Haines, in 1975, William Spalding, the head of Ground Saucer Watch, requested all files related to the Robertson panel. The Robertson panel was a group brought together by the CIA in 1953 to review the Air Force's UFO investigation. Upon receiving the files, Spaulding replied to the CIA accusing them of a cover-up. The CIA's Information and Privacy Coordinator, Gene Wilson, replied "At no time prior to the formation of the Robertson Panel and subsequent to the issuance of the panel's report has CIA engaged in the study of the UFO phenomena." Haines wrote, "Wilson was ill informed."That is because Spaulding sued the CIA, unconvinced by Wilson's response, and he won. The CIA was forced to conduct an extensive search for UFO files, and sure enough, they found 355 more documents, totalling around 900 pages. Most of these files were subsequently released to the public. 100 pages were withheld, "on national security grounds and to protect sources and methods."Ground Saucer Watch filed another lawsuit (see clarification by Kel McClanahan in the comments below) to get the remaining files, but according to the CIA, this lawsuit was dismissed in 1980. McClanahan told "The Week" that Ground Saucer Watch versus the CIA has since been cited in many other decisions. It helped set the parameters for what the government is expected to search for. It also prompted the CIA to put their UFO files on their website.The second case is from 2007 when Leslie Kean sued NASA for information on a mysterious object that fell into the forest in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania in the 1960s. In this case the court ruled in Kean's favor, agreeing that NASA had not adequately searched for the documents. NASA was ordered to conduct a more extensive search. McClanahan says this case is significant because of why the Citizens Against UFO Secrecy lost. They produced witnesses to testify that the DOD knew more than they were sharing, but the judge determined, "speculation that documents exist is insufficient to create a genuine issue of material fact. The Week" notes, "So even if Benghazi conspiracy theorists produced dozens of eyewitnesses to support a certain allegation, it makes no difference if the government doesn't have any documentation of it. The Week" makes the case that whether or not you think there is anything to the UFO debate, UFO research has had an effect on the government's handling of FOIA. McClanahan asks, "What other advocacy group can say that they're getting the government to proactively disclose everything there is to know about a subject?"

Another UFO sighting - Quick-witted specify in the sky that flashed luridly the late colors: red, blue, green, orange and pasty. It stirred apiece horizontally and vertically. This video was recorded in Georgia, US on 6th January 2010 at 8 pm.
"On Jan. 6th at 8pm, I was on my way, nap surrounded by a group of age group, to a meeting. We noticed a very blushing specify in sharply the same land-living that Sirius is in the sky at that time. This specify was behaving very differently than an banal star and appeared heavy than Sirius. It was shimmering color in a dotted way, red, blue green, pasty. It stirred vertically and horizontally as well. We watched it for about 1/2 hour, and it was motionless in the sky at the same time as we departed. A video of the same specify was finished at 3:43am, 7 hours concluding about 50 degrees from the horizon in the SE sky. The bordered footage spur show definite the traditions of this specify. I find the whole subject of UFOs and ETs, as well as anything connected to that subject, to be absolutely fascinating -- even some of the attributes of the phenomenon viewed by some with a measure of fear and loathing, or even terror. I think the reason for the fear is, in part, that many people fail entirely to grasp the actual magnitude of the presence of alien beings here on our planet.
I feel that the existence alone of these ET entities, as well as the almost inconceivable technology and mental abilities they must possess, is an opportunity for us to learn from them. It is a chance for us to break away finally from the railroad-track-like rut we have been in for so long. Look, for example, at some of our social, economic and religious belief patterns. Some, if not all of them, should have been tossed in the junk pile decades ago. Worst of all, like obedient sheep, the common man has been manipulated into position by greedy and power-hungry individuals for thousands of years.
This is a good chance to make a new start -- a clean, fresh start. Will it take something like bizarre-looking space aliens to jolt humanity out of our subservient, materialistic lethargy? Humanity surely needs to begin to work cooperatively together to create heaven on earth and to preserve what was given us to cherish.
The abduction of Frank Ramsey is a prime example of a worst-case scenario. He was taken against his will, examined on a ship and left with a feeling of having been personally violated. He was abused and dumped back on the planet with no consciously remembered reason why this was done to him. Frank has been abducted several times in the past, and after the first incident he nearly had to be hospitalized because of resulting emotional trauma. On this particular occasion, Frank remembered some of what had happened to him. At that time there were no support groups for abductees, although now there are many. These abductions by aliens not only of Frank but of countless others are absolutely real. We need to know why they are doing it. We need the explanation from the aliens themselves. We need concrete answers from the source of this activity and from no one else!
Here is Frank Ramsey's story in his own words. "It was April in 1976. I was staying at the... Ranch near Loy Butte. I was out for a walk late one afternoon and I had gone out to the end of the ranch road to take pictures of the sunset. I took the pictures and had turned to go back. By the way, I had the exact same flashlight with me that I had had in the other incident -- not just the same model, but the exact same flashlight. (Author's note: This referred to a previous abduction in the same general area years earlier.) I turned to walk down this road that went around the other end of the ranch. I did that to avoid going back through the rocks and boulders the way I had come. But something compelled me to continue walking down the road past the ranch. Well, I was aware that it was 'something' compelling me. But out of curiosity, I let 'it' do it. So I went ahead and walked.
"In a while I came to a crossroads. Puzzled by where this other road went that I didn't even know about, I made a pile of rocks at the edge of this old road. I figured that the next day I could drive around, rediscover that old road and follow it. Just then the whole place lit up like daylight. I looked above me and there was a bright white sphere probably 30 to 40 feet off the ground. I ducked into a bush and reloaded my camera. I was determined to get a picture this time.
"This think took off -- it would flash like a huge, brilliant flashbulb, and then it would be gone. And then a split second later it would flash fifty or sixty miles away. And then it would come back. And it did it again and again! Back and forth! Well, I took off through the bushes -- not on the road. I did not turn on my flashlight this time. In the dark I worked my way back almost to the ranch. I saw the sphere once with its light very dim, going along a wash behind me. So I figured it could do just about anything. But I was still trying to get back to the ranch.
"I almost got back. I was near the south end of the ranch, working my way down a wash in the dark. There was no moon to speak of, it was somewhat overcast, which didn't help any. It was then that I saw someone standing out on the side of a hill, waving a light at me. Well, I assumed this was one of my friends from the ranch; there were three of us that lived there. And so I turned my light on to answer. And I hollered to the person on the hillside and began to move toward him.
"Well, just about that time a car stopped on the road, the main road on the ridge above the ranch. Two people got out of the car, a man and a woman, and they began yelling and honking the car's horn. Then I realized that these were my friends from the ranch. I thought, well... I remember the exact thought: 'Well! If that's Laura and Paul up there, then what's this!' I turned to look, and as I strained my vision it became clear to me that there was a sphere on the ground. It was the same one as before and it had a door open. I could make out a muted light inside. The thing was by then only about a hundred feet away -- I had walked a long way toward it. My heart started to race when I saw that there was a human-shaped creature standing by the side of the opening. This creature was made up of white light. I turned to run and the only thing I know to say is that it was like a 'freeze frame.' The next thing I know, everything's different. I'm standing on a rock. I don't know where I am. The only memory I have after turning to run was of being in the air about four or five feet above a big bush with my camera, tripod and all. I was like in a picture. It was, again, like a freeze frame. I was totally immobile; I couldn't move.
"Anyway, here I am standing on this rock and my first thought was to see if I was all there. I thought I might be hurt. I checked to see if my camera was intact and still with me -- and my tripod. I looked to see if I was all torn up and bleeding from running through the cactus, and my socks all full of thorns. None of this was true! I was just fine! I wasn't cut and scratched like I should have been, running through the bushes. I was very clean. I had all my camera gear with me. But I did not know where I was. I finally figured out that I was standing to the north of the ranch because I heard dogs barking. I turned and walked toward the dogs. It turned out they were at another ranch, and I was a long way from where I had been last. A mile and a half, probably -- maybe as much as two miles from where I had been. I wandered around in the darkness for some time. Finally, I saw the vague outline of Loy Butte silhouetted against the sky. It was then that I knew I was going in the wrong direction! Having hiked the area, I was somewhat familiar with the terrain. I got the right direction and managed to work my way back to the ranch. I must have wandered around for a couple of hours. I really don't know because I was so disoriented. But it was at least a couple of hours.
"Back at the ranch I told my story to my friends. I am not sure they believed me, but they did remember seeing my flashlight from the roadway where they were. Anyway, I have a memory of being inside that sphere. I remember looking out of a porthole-type window and I remember seeing stars outside it. I didn't remember anything else." (Note: After the incident, bit by bit, he began to remember the creatures. They were the Whitley Strieber type, with oversized bulbous heads, no ears, no hair, large almond eyes, etc.)
"I don't know why these incidents have occurred to me -- why me? If it ever happens again, I am going to face it without fear and without terror. And with solidity of purpose, I will find out what is going on. I will not let myself be overcome again!"
After reading Frank's account of his abduction, you may be left feeling somewhat stirred up. I was. You have to wonder if perhaps something like that happened to you and you don't remember it. Maybe it has. Few people have a conscious memory of an alien abduction. When lots of people get really riled up, it is then that we will get some solid answers. Frank's case (and there are now hundreds of similar, documented ones) is rather unusual because he does have memory of events leading up to his abduction. He also has some recollection of the abduction itself.
In Frank's experience, the abductors were very sloppy in their handling of the abduction. Usually they are not. In the majority of cases there is only strangely missing time. Typically, the abductee is going from point A to point B, which would normally take, say, ten minutes. The perplexed individual then discovers, to his or her consternation, that the trip actually took two hours and then minutes! What happened during those missing hours? Has it happened before? Will it happen again?
Most abductions in the last ten or twenty years were from the individual's own bedroom in the early hours of the morning, instead of from a car, a boat or during a camping, fishing, or hunting trip, etc. Why the recent shift? Might it be that alien methods or technology in that area have become more efficient? What are these abductors up to? Are these abductions for our welfare or for theirs? It's probably more for our welfare and our planet than for theirs -- in the long run. But only they know the exact reason why!
Regardless, these nocturnal intrusions must stop! It is our right to know the reason for such intrusions. The few ET races that are presently doing this should come to us, not the government, face to face and explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. Then we can choose to cooperate with them in these activities if their reasons are convincing and appropriate.

BACKGROUND/DESCRIPTION:
In early November, 1966 various reports became to come in of a huge bird-like creature with red-glowing eyes around the area of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The sightings were focused around an area the locals call "TNT", because it had been used as an explosives depot during the Second World War and there were many abandoned chemical and industrial plants in the vicinity. Sightings were made throughout the year and not before long they became more and more bizarre; now also reports of UFOs and "Men in Black" came in to the local police station. Soon the sightings begun to die out and the creature they called "Mothman" were not seen again.
EVIDENCE FOR:
There are several evidences that support that something strange lurked around Point Pleasant. Many reports, actually topping around 100, from very credible persons were handed in to police, who actually took it seriously and investigated Mothman, but they didn't find anything.
EVIDENCE AGAINST:
There is not in any way any physical evidence from Mothman supporting its existence. There are several theories what the witnesses actually saw. Probably what they was just an big owl, maybe an barn or snowy owl. Also skeptics suggest that the Mothman's glowing eyes are actually red-eye caused from the reflection of light, from flashlights, or other light sources that witnesses may have had with them.
CONCLUSION:
This story sounds at first like the creation of an overworked comic book writer, but according to the well over 100 reportedly saw this creature it was real. It's hard to dismiss everyone's sigthing, but it's likely the creature they saw was just an oversized owl and the result of human paranoia.
Today I did something I've been dying to do for a few months... When Vxxxx, the Wisconsin State MUFON Director, interviewed me a while back about my Burlington Vortex UFO sighting ("Straight To The Top," 12/14/2011), she had asked if the burning orange lights in the sky had come from the direction of the Bong Recreation Area, and indeed they had.Ever since that interview, I've been wanting to visit the Bong Recreation Area to see if I could find any evidence that this former almost-but-not-quite Air Force Base was in fact the site of a secret UFO base, a sort of Area 51 1/2 right here in southern Wisconsin ("Bong, Bong, Bong," 12/15/2011). I guess the fact that it took me two months to actually do it doesn't say much for my dedication to the craft, especially since I drive within about 10 miles of Bong once or twice a week, but in my defense I have been studying pretty hard to be a MUFON Field Investigator while juggling a fairly successful career, being an exemplary husband and father, writing magazine articles and doing radio interviews, and, well, it just got away from me.But that all changed today. Sit back and I will tell you about my somewhat odd and chilling visit to the Richard Bong State "Recreation Area"... It's such an odd, strange tale I may and up splitting it up into two parts. We'll see.I checked in at the entrance station to buy my state parks sticker, and I casually asked the cashier if she was aware that UFO buffs suspect that Bong may be a secret UFO base (TIP: when asking this type of question, NEVER identify yourself as one of the UFO buffs; always distance yourself from "those people"). The cashier, correctly surmising I wasn't one of those people, rolled her eyes and said, "Yea, I know." I laughed (further distancing myself from those people) and said, "Do you hear that a lot?" Again she rolled her eyes and said, "Oh yes I do." I took my sticker and entered the park.Now, to the untrained eye, the Bong Recreation Area looks like any other Wisconsin prairie: flat, grassy and bleak. How they can get away with calling this place a Recreation Area is beyond me. Here's the view to the west: BleakHere's the view to the east: BleakerBut wait! Is it really as bleak as it seems? Maybe not. You see, the view from above is altogether different. When you look at Bong from Google Earth, you can clearly see the remnants of the stillborn Air Force Base... OMGYep, those are runways, all right. Legend has it that plans for the Air Force Base were scrapped a mere two days before the concrete for the runways was to be poured. Today, that long swath of prairie, a full two miles in length and a half mile wide, is mysteriously identified on park maps as the "Special Use Zone."What on earth is a Special Use Zone? And why is it covered with mysterious and forbidding "diagonal lines "on the park map?I had to find out. Throwing caution to the wind, I drove along the straightest road in the world, scanning the flat, bleak landscape for any sign of alien presence. I soon came across an odd, unearthly sight... There, in the middle of nowhere, was an observation tower... "where there is nothing to observe! " Trust me, there is nothing to observe here.I knew I was on to something, so I kept moving ever onward. I ventured off the very straight paved road onto a very straight muddy, rutted dirt road, and came across a sight that made my blood run cold... " This made my blood run cold.TO BE CONTINUED..."
