About the Stringfield Number Project
The Stringfield number project honors the late Leonard H. Stringfield, one of the first ufologists to take crashed-saucer stories seriously. He published numerous papers and books on the topic throughout the later half of the twentieth century up until his passing in 1994. His contacts in the medical field gave him the first descriptions of the alien bodies allegedly recovered at Roswell.

The first, John Pritchard, describes seeing "orange light which then changed to a purple color", while the second, Kathleen Walls, says she and her husband saw an object "big in body all lit up with two lights either side of it." And a UFO skeptic from Machynlleth has been left questioning whether such things do exist after filming unexplained orange lights in the sky. John Pritchard spotted the lights flying above Machynlleth at approximately 8.10pm on March 12, and quickly dashed for his video camera to recorded the "strange" activity. The County Times hopes to get a copy of the video on its website - www.countytimes.co.uk - as quickly as possible. "The lights were moving quite slowly at first, then they sped up and zig-zagged away. It was very strange," explained Mr Pritchard. "At first I thought it must be an airplane but it definitely was not because when I enlarged my recording on the television I could see an orange circular light which then changed to a purple color. "I am a bit skeptical when it comes to things like UFOs and aliens but I would be interested in finding out what exactly I did film," he concluded. Meanwhile, a couple from Pennal spotted an "unexplained object" flying through the night sky last month. This is not the first time he's observed these same objects in our vicinity. He was understandably excited about having seen these, but at the same time nervous about what he'd seen and what they are, considering he's seen them before. We did observe a jet traveling about 20,000 feet above after the second set of lights were observed. The objects were fast-moving and glowing white, according to my son. On 7/13/2013 I observed about 4:30 AM a large, silent "plane" above our town. It was pulsating green and white on wing tips and a red light on the nose. This was an extremely large plane and yet it made no noise and moved slower than a jet would at that altitude. I would estimate it to have been about 15,000 feet up but again, no sound. It was headed in a southeast-northwest direction.

La longitud de los ovnis est'a en el intervalo de cientos de kil'ometros. Aterrizaje, seg'un los c'alculos de los cient'ificos, debe ser a lo 'ultimo de diciembre de 2012. The National Space Society announces that the European Space Agency (ESA) Rosetta mission team is the winner of its 2015 Space Pioneer Award for science and engineering. NSS recognizes the achievements of the Rosetta team, which include the construction, launch and operation of the spacecraft. This award will be presented at the National Space Society's 2015 International Space Development Conference (http://isdc.nss.org/2015/). This will be the 34th ISDC and will be held in Toronto, Canada, at the Hyatt Regency Toronto (downtown). The conference will run from May 20-24, 2015.
ABOUT THE SPACE PIONEER AWARD
The Space Pioneer Award consists of a silvery pewter Moon globe cast by the Baker Art Foundry in Placerville, California, from a sculpture originally created by Don Davis, the well-known space and astronomical artist. The globe, as shown at left, which represents multiple space mission destinations and goals, sits freely on a brass support with a wooden base and brass plaque, which are created by Michael Hall's Studio Foundry of Driftwood, TX. NSS has several different categories under which the award is presented each year, starting in 1988.
ABOUT THE ROSETTA TEAM
The Rosetta Mission, underway for over a decade, has scored two historic science firsts: (1) the Rosetta spacecraft went into close orbit around a comet (67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko) on August 6, 2014, and (2) the Philae lander landed on the comet and provided data transmitted from its surface. The two vehicles have provided abundant data that will help characterize the geology and chemistry of the comet. Rosetta will also monitor the evolution of the phases of the comet during and past its perihelion. This will be the first time in human history that such details of a comet's behavior have been closely observed. The fact that the comet resembles a contact binary adds to the interest created by the amazing photographs the mission has provided, showing a wide variety of surface features. Mission Manager Fred Jansen and Project Scientist Matt Taylor head the great team of engineers and scientists who carried out this European Space Agency mission.
Rosetta is an ESA mission with contributions from its member states and NASA. Rosetta's Philae lander is provided by a consortium led by Deutschen Zentrums f"ur Luft und Raumfahrt (German Center for Aeronautics and Space Research), Max-Planck-Institut f"ur Sonnensystemforschung (Max-Planck Institute for Solar System Research), Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (National Center for Space Research) and Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (Italian Space Agency).
