To be fair, there have been the occasional calls to change UFO to something else (like UAP: unidentified aerial phenomena) by some UFO researchers. That too seems silly to me for a lot of reasons but we're talking about skeptoids so I'll move on.
Whether that thing in the sky is called a UFO, "NYIO", UAP, or whatever, it's still something unknown. Sweet baby basil Jesus, it's a UFO, get over it. If it turns out to be a blimp, Venus or military craft, fine. Until then, it remains a mystery. Interpretations, one being the assumption that "It has to be alien since we don't have that technology" will continue whether the UFO is now called a UAP or "NYIO" or whatever sporty combination of letters you want to throw together.

* What of the partnership between government factions and private industry?

On early saturday morning, I would say around 1 or 2am, I found myself awaken by a loud noise and the sound of my mothers dogs barking. I was in the room asleep with my son, cousin, aunt and uncle. I payed no attention to the noise since it's not unusual to hear them when you have pets in the house. What really made me wake up was the fact that I saw a light appear in the room. A very bright light. I opened my eyes thinking at first it was a family member looking for something, but what I saw really scared me. At the foot of the bed where I was standing there was a black entity scanning the room with what I think was a flashlight, at first i thought it was an intruder (human) but then I saw it's head, and it was not a human head. It had a long round jaw and a big round black eye (seen in side view)It was scanning the room as if it was looking for something or someone, but it wasn't moving it was just standing there, when it notice i opened my eyes it flashed the light towards me and blinded me, I couldn't open my eyes at all no matter how hard I tried. I was obviously scared and attempted to wake up my aunt who was sleeping next to me but had no luck in doing so. This lasted for what ?I think was about 30seconds to a minute. The light then disappeared and once I was able to see again I noticed there was no one there. I was extremely scared and my first reaction was to check if my son was still next to me, which he was. I held him tighter got under the covers and went back to bed. The following day I mentioned the experience to my family, but no one heard or saw anything. I want to believe it was just a dream, but this is the second time an experience like this has happened to me.

My mom and I a week ago saw something come out of no where, there were 2 what looked like balls of fire radiating bright orange light.
They came down Dartmoor road here and turned right at Glendale road. They were about 40 to 50 feet above us and made no noise.
One stopped and hovered for maybe a few seconds and then gracefully moved on. We were in shock.
They were big and beautiful and I will never forget the radiating light they produced.
They headed off towards Broadway and I wonder if anyone else saw this.
It took place in December of this year, 2014. We reported it to the police.

I recently received this URL from someone asking me to take a look - it's a site about the NASA cover-up of alien bases on the moon. Familiar conspiracy silliness, new source (for me anyway).
The URL gives me the opportunity to direct readers to a blog that I follow called "The Emoluments of Mars," written by someone (Expat) who has a deep knowledge of spaceflight, NASA photographs, and photographic analysis.
Basically, "Expat" is the "anti-Hoagland". He's intimately familiar with all of what Richard Hoagland, Mike Bara, and Ken Johnston have written and said to prop up the idea of alien base / artificial structures on the moon and Mars. News flash: there are piles of problems with their use/abuse of images, analysis, and thought processes. Since I have no knowledge of such things, Expat's blog is a wonderful resource to get critical evaluation of these claims. It's great knowing there are experts in such fields that bother to get involved (akin to my geneticist friend to whom I regularly send "alien DNA" hokum for expert opinion).
I decided to send the URL I received to Expat to see if he'd comment (I did so in the comments to one of his posts). He replied:

MAY 12, 2013 - UNITED STATES - Texas seems to be one of the top UFO hotspots on the planet. The following videos is the latest in entry in our continuing documentation of sightings in the Lone Star State. The UFOs were filmed over North Richland Hills on the 4th of May, 2013.EYE-WITNESS REPORT:UFO/orbs/triangle formation witnessed hovering for a period of over an hour. After hearing a loud boom, I rushed outside to investigate (not claiming boom was related, but very ironic timing if its not related). Directly in my line of vision after walking out front was the UFO, essentially commanding my attention. (not in an overly telepathic way or anything like that). I have had reoccurring dreams for many years about seeing lights in the sky from the same vantage point, so I think that helped to command my attention to it more than anything else. I continued to tell myself it was a star, or drone, but the more I observed it, and the more others around me observed it, it became quickly apparent that it was neither of those things. I kept telling myself it was a drone until I reviewed the footage. It wasn't until a couple days later that I discovered the formation, triangle pattern, and coordinated maneuver while editing the footage. That was when the full truth finally sunk in. I have at least 5 witnesses, and 3 vantage points of video footage to back me up. My wife and I even viewed the object through binoculars and clearly saw the strange light patterns through the binoculars as well. These lights were nearly impossible to see from the well lit streets just outside of the neighborhood, and has shown me how easily these types of things can be going on right under our noses without our knowledge. Even while witnessing these objects in person, I didn't fully see or comprehend the multiple objects in formation. As it was happening, I told myself that the 2nd object was just a star that had been there the whole time. After viewing the footage, this clearly was not true. It was fourth of july 2013 approximately 9:45 pm. It was just dark enough to observe fireworks displays so I went outside. I looked to the NE, and an unknown strange glowing object caught my eye. It wasn't acting like any normal firework, so I sprinted inside and grabbed my video camera. When I came back outside and started recording, the light was slowly moving south from the north east, and was not making a sound unless it sounded like popping fireworks. I figured it to be moving maybe 2-5 mph tops. I was startled, and my heart was racing with questions. the more I watched this glowing pulsating red orange ball the more I began to realize it wasn't normal it wasn't a plane or helicopters. As I tried to follow the object with my camera, it was moving further away. Then it just disappeared like a light switch. I watched the skies for another minute or so, when like a light switch, it was back due east and twice is high as before. I begin filming a second time but it was just too far away to capture any good quality as you will see in the first video. The object appeared to be 1/4 mile away and I could not determine size. From my vantage point it was the size of a tennis ball. When I first witness the object I knew it wasn't a firework because of its manorism, shape, and pulsating nature. It was mostly all red with a pulsating orange in the middle. Seeing this object at first scared me but then I became 110% curious. I still would like to know what it was, as this incident remains in my daily thoughts. The reason I am coming forward now is because I would like some answers, and if there is a 1% chance of this being a true UFO sighting, unlike my government I would like to make it public knowledge.
