WATCH OUT - THEY'RE STILL OUT THERE

A conference was held in the North-East yesterday - to be told that aliens from other planets are all around us and that abductions are on the increase.

The open-minded sat open-mouthed at the UFO workshop in
Middlesborough as they were told of the six races of aliens which are monitoring humanity - and of the attempts by Governments to keep it all secret.

Self-proclaimed UFO expert and psychotherapist Gf Freed, 36, had
travelled up from London to share what he said was his top secret
knowledge of flying saucers and alien abductions.

Thirty people had packed into St Mary's Church Hall in Green Lane,
Acklam, to hear his claims that there's been an increased number of abductions in the region.

A woman, who would identify herself only as Marion, aged 47, said
she had seen an alien in the garden of her Stockton council house.

"It was stocky, about 5ft 6ins tall, had tight fitting clothing, and was wearing what looked like wrap-round sunglasses," she said.

Workshop organiser Mavis Fielding, 63, a yoga teacher from Acklam,
Middlesborough, said the workshop was valuable for those with open
minds.

The air was thick with conspiracy theories - reporters were asked to stop making notes because of the extreme secrecy of the proceedings.

UK.UFO.ML says: I have mailed Maurizio explaining some of the
problems this could pose, but is there anyone out there who feel
they may be able to assist him?
"I have had many requests for back issues to the UK.UFO.ML but up
until now have not really been able to help. I am in the process of archiving the issues into packs of ten which I will be able to
uuencode to any members wanting them.

Please note: I am not ready to do this yet however. As soon as I am I will let you know through the mag

Subject: The Italian photograph.

In issue number 84 (which I bought during December) of Fortean Times
- The Journal Of Strange Phenomena, I came across an article starting on page 24 called 'Boom! Time For UFOs' by Robert Irving.

The article covers various things, but of photographic interest is
the part regarding an Italian Air Force Base.

Aviano Air Force base is actually two air force bases butted
together. The larger more active is controlled by the US Air Force;
while the other considerably smaller, its buildings noticeably
paint-peeled and rusty and is the regional home of the Italian Air
Force.

Aviano has also gained its share of notoriety among ufologists. In
his best selling book Above Top Secret, author Tim Good relates the story of Benito Manfre, a night watchman of the ancient and
picturesque Castello D'Aviano, set high in the oldest part of the
town overlooking the base. One night in 1979, Benito was awakened by his dog barking and walked outside to see a stationary 'mass' of
light hovering low over the hangars. Otherwise, according to the
story, the base was in total darkness. After he had watched for a few minutes, Benito's lights now resembling a glowing disc, rose up and glided noiselessly past him before disappearing behind the mountains.
Seconds later, the arc lights of the base flickered on again. Through the mist Signor Manfre could see vehicles and officers in unusual
activity around the hangars. Subsequent rumours have spread that the base, like many of its cousins back home, is only the outer skin of a vast underground facility. That this space may serve as a storage
area for secret discoidal craft and has since become an irresistible assumption for Italian ufologists.

The author 'Irving' states that during the evening of the day he
visited the outskirts of the base he was sat talking to a couple of pilots in the California Beer Parlour in down-town Aviano. During
the conversation Irving asked about a strange craft that he thought he had seen jutting out from one of the hangars of the base. It was apparently a long way from the fence.

He said: 'It looked chrome-coloured, but it was hard to see properly and could I have more details? Death smiled a Colgate smile, poured me some more with a jovial back slap - we were pals now - and then
promised to send me some flight- suit patches and other mementoes
(which never arrived). It's the American way.'

In the magazine is a photograph that Irving took of the open hangar with a fighter aircraft outside but near to it. Something can be
seen inside the hangar. Another photograph shows a computer enhanced picture of the entrance to the hangar. It looks as though they have used a computer to zoom-in on the photograph. It shows what appears to be a saucer shaped disc with what could be windows around the top.
I knew that I had seen a picture of a similar UFO before. While I was doing some surfing this week I came across the following www site.

http://www.rtd.com

This is a page entitled 'UFO art work by James Nichols'

The following is from that page:

About the artist: In 1980 Jim began serious illustration through his association with noted UFO investigator Wendelle C. Steven's. Since that time Jim has provided numerous renderings for many books and
magazine publications. Jim's art lends dynamic visual dimension to
UFO reporting, portraying them with photographic precision. The
impact is sharp and direct, making the undeniable statement - UFOs
ARE HERE!

If you care to visit the site which shows thumbnails of a lot of his work and fortunately downloads at a reasonable speed, the three
similar pictures are entitled - Variation II - Billy Meier - Semjase II.

These pictures plus those scanned in from the magazine will be on
the groups web page in the very near future. I am in the final stages of obtaining the web space. More news on this as soon as possible.

I could be wrong about the similarities between the pictures.

Further to the above. Two of my friends have since seen the
pictures. Both have said that at first glance the object in the
doorway to the hangar appears to be a conventional aircraft. See what you think!

enquiry should be of interest to us all.

LATEST ON THE AUTOPSY FOOTAGE

Background: After several months of intense media interest and
coverage, there is still no definative conclusion about the
authenticity of Ray Santilli's Alien Autopsy film.

Nico Maillard, a French TV Station researcher, has been kind enough to share his extensive research about the Ray Santilli story. Readers will recall that the initial story was that an old former military
cameraman named Jack Barnett had sold Santilli the rights to footage he had shot of Elvis Presley in the mid 1950s, and then offered the reels of left over alien autopsy footage. Supposedly Santilli has
been asking the cameraman questions and passing on the answers to
interested parties, but Barnett didn't want to go public.

Maillard located a passage in the book Elvis Presley from A to Z
which indeed noted that Elvis had been filmed by Jack Barnett in
Cleveland for Bill Randle, an unusual Disc Jockey who had been the
first DJ outside the South to play Presley records. Maillard located Randle, now a practicing attorney, who actually sold Santilli some
rights to the Presley footage.

Jack Barnett actually died in 1967, I managed to obtain a copy of
his death certificate and obituary information. A very important fact is that, while he had indeed been a cameraman for Movietone News and NBC, and a war correspondent in the European Theatre, he had never
been in the Military. He was apparently known to both President
Eisenhower and President Truman.

Clearly he did NOT do what Santilli had claimed and certainly hadn't sold him any footage about anything nor filmed an alien autopsy for General McMullen, etc.

Those who have been following the many twists and turns of Santilli's story might object by saying that after all, those of us at the San Marino Conference on New Perspectives on Roswell were told quietly in September that the real name of the cameraman was Jack Barrett, not Barnett. It was determined that a man by this name had been a member of a Hollywood union related to the motion picture industry for many years. Later the word was out that he had supposedly died on August 3 in Los Angeles.

I tried unsuccessfully to find a record of his death after talking to someone at the Union who had known him and had stated that Jack had been in the military. The indefatigable Maillard found his widow and obtained documentary proof (I have a copy) that his military service was from February 18, 1943, to December 28, 1945. He had NOT been a motion picture cameraman, had taken stills, and was a grip at
Columbia studios for 35 years. Perhaps he had made copies of some
old footage from some other Hollywood source? Obviously, he too could NOT match the Santilli story.

I had already learned that I couldn't accept Santilli's testiimony
about anything after he falsely claimed that President Truman was
clearly visible in the footage and that he had proven that Truman was in Dallas at the time of the autopsy. Truman isn't there and was NOT in Dallas. Other false claims have neen made. Yet as recently as
October 26, he was still telling these stories on BBC TV.

Obviously the lack of validation has been no barrier to the
exploitation of the footage. I hear that some of it has been shown in
32 countries! FOX TV in the USA ran a 3rd version of their movie
"Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction?" on Nov. 25. They finally eliminated all the silly stuff with the detectives, showed some of the supposed wreckage with its symbols and an inventor of a control panel into
which hands are placed not too different from similar items (with 6 digits) in the footage..They even included an expert saying the
symbols weren't any of a number of Egyptian languages. He didn't
mention old Greek, which certainly is similar to some of the symbols, as noted by Dr., Bruce Maccabee back in August when we reviewed the footage.

The video of the show has been selling, well I am told. Bob Kiviat, who produced the show, still hasn't corrected the many incaccuracies such as:

- having the Enola Gay start from Roswell,
- having nuclear weapon tests being conducted nearby,
- it being rare for a woman with Turner's Syndrome to live to be a
teen, - noting that there is no backup for the testimony of Frankie Rowe,

I will be in Roswell on December 8 and 9 with Dr. Jesse Marcel,
Walter Haut and others talking to a Japanese TV crew with a primary focus on the footage, and am expecting to go to France for another
filming session. Certainly I must admit that the footage has stirred more discussion about UFOs than anything that has happened in the
past couple of decades.
