A crew of Swedish divers scavenging the Baltic Sea for treasures has shared new images of their baffling discovery - a large disc-shaped object settled on the seabed.
In a press release that sounds as if it were inspired by the underwater sci-fi film "The Abyss", the unidentified object is described as circular, with rounded sides and rugged edges.
"The object had an egg-shaped hole leading into it from the top, as an opening," the release said, drawing comparisons from several media outlets to the fictional Millenium Falcon spacecraft featured in "Star Wars".
Stefan Hogeborn, one of the divers in the expedition, said he was perplexed by the shape and structure of the circular object, which is about 60 metres in diameter and rises three to four metres from the seabed. That's roughly the size of a jumbo jet.
Adding to the mystery, the object was also reported to have a 400-metre-long trail leading away from it, similar in appearance to skid marks. Another smaller disc-shaped object was found nearby, also with apparent drag lines about the same length.
The Ocean Explorer team that first laid claim to the find last year also described stone circle formations resembling "small fireplaces" and covered in a residue resembling soot.
"I can't explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions," Hogeborn said in a statement Friday, noting that stones don't normally burn.
'STRANGEST' EXPERIENCE IN DIVING CAREER
In the release, Peter Lindberg, one of the founders of the Ocean Explorer team, called the finding "the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver." Lindberg had said in a previous interview his initial thought when he encountered the object was that the team had discovered a sunken UFO.

The team said its mission was to return to the same secret location between Sweden and Finland this week, armed with more sophisticated sonar gear, in order to further their investigations and take samples.
Coverage surrounding the find has ignited speculation from some conspiracy theorists about the possibility of either a sunken UFO or a USO (unidentified submerged object). Other commentators on social media, including paranormal and Area 51 theorists on Twitter, have questioned whether the mysterious build-up to the Baltic investigation is a hoax or viral marketing gag.
Some messages posted to the Ocean Explorer Facebook page expressed similar sentiments.
Dennis Aasberg, a lead diver with the Ocean Explorer team, did little to suppress anticipation for an announcement.
He teased the discovery this week on Facebook, writing: "Everything is top secret now...because of the risks...hope you all understand this is no game. But the truth will be reported shortly."
The Ocean Explorer team gained notoriety in 1998, after divers surfaced bearing crates of vintage champagne from a First World War-era ship sunk in 1916. The haul of 4,000 bottles of champagne and 68 bottles of cognac was valued at about 3,000 a bottle.

Ive Seen The Lights
The general subject revolves around the belief that some lightform phenomena have a source which is "alive" in some sense, and that source is at a minimum conscious with a spiritual foundation of some kind, and that interactions with this "whatever" have been transformative for some humans.
It is quite possible to view the first parts of the hypothesis in the paragraph above as truly related to some reality external to ourselves, but that the transformative aspect of interacting with that reality is entirely our own "invention" following an encounter of astonishment. This is part of the complexity.
The inspiration for my blundering into this topic came from someone pointing towards the book on the left. This book, a very interesting thing en toto, was written by the fellow pictured above. He is Mark Fox, a lecturer in Philosophy and Religious Studies at Joseph Chamberlain College, Birmingham, UK.
Fox was doing a study of an unusual, to say the least, scientist named Alister Hardy {pictured below}.
Hardy was a biologist who had a speciality in zoology and evolutionary theory. Unlike most bio-evolutionists however, Hardy was an actively religious and spiritual man, who believed that there was no reason to suspect that Science and Religion should be in conflict, and plenty of reason (in his mind) that ultimately there would be no conflict at all.
Hardy, not content merely to keep these thoughts in silence, began a quest, external to his laboratory and fieldwork, for possible evidence of the spiritual world manifesting in Nature.
He wrote several books about his ideas of God, Spirit, and Nature, getting the nickname "God's Biologist". But these books [pictured below] were not the source of Mark Fox's interests in the "spiritual encounters" ideas nor my own.
What Hardy did, almost as a hobby [like a much nobler form of my own chosen UFO research "hobby" while I was a prof, and closer to the work "outside" their fields by the great late 19th century scientists who founded the Society for Psychical Research], was to begin collecting grass roots peoples' spiritual encounter stories.
This gathering of "real world narratives" about "other worldly things" evolved into something called the Religious Experience Research Centre {RERC}. RERC was originally located at Manchester College, Oxford, and is currently in the University of Wales at Lampeter. The fact that the Lampeter college is the smallest university in the UK, yet willing to house possibly the most important research concept center, is an irony and a modern social/academic buffoonery that I'll drop with no further comment here. Lampeter/Wales IS, by the way, a very well thought of small university, so the quality of the place is first rate, thankfully.
When Mark Fox learned of the RERC depository of "spiritual encounter narratives", he was excited. There were over 6000 on file. Reading through these, he became impressed with the number of the reports which featured an interaction with light in some way, and a [as William James would say] "variety of religious experiences". Fox, absolutely rightly in my humble opinion, felt that these "data" needed an audience, and went about the work that led to the book originally mentioned.
To compose this thing, Fox culled the RERC files [some of this was forced due to how available some of them were to be read {the minority apparently}]. He selected 700 cases, later trimmed to 400, to illustrate the varying themes that he felt that he was discovering. In the book, many cases are thumbnailed, and Fox does the academic thing of surrounding them with comments derived from opinions as diverse as persons buying into old-style mediumship, to "modern orb" speculators, to Michael Persinger's tectonic-stress-makes-our-brains-go-crazy, to UFO lightfield watchers.
Although persons coming after Alister Hardy tended to use his data in a debunking way [a la Persinger], Hardy went to his own reward believing that the lightforms were manifestations of a spiritual presence occasionally showing itself in our own "physical" spacetime
as, with regards to some portion of them, so do I. Fox, for his part, is careful not to speak too strongly, but at the very end of the book seems to end in this same place as well.
So..... what have we to deal with?
The early part of this post was a no-brainer... just "history/biography" clearly known. From here on is a Great Swamp of Possibilities, some of which is doubtless Swamp Gas. I, as I sit here staring at that wonderful Olde Print of...?... Will-o-the-Wisp, have no good path on which to proceed. What I'm going to begin with is a list of hypotheses that different theorists have tossed into the Swamp to see if they'll illuminate anything. Further blundering, pixy-led no doubt, will commence from there.
Hypotheses {An Incomplete Set}:
1). Such things are complete baloney {I have urges to shoot such "theorists" but my Catholicism forbids};
2). Such things are the products of natural physical processes, such as those which produce Marsh Gas "candles" and other natural luminous phenomena;
3). Such things are indicators of some still-unknown mechanism whereby the Earth, probably via geological strains, creates surprising lightform phenomena. These lightforms have much less intensity than Ball Lightning, but somehow persist longer. They are a novel natural discovery waiting to go into the science textbooks if we can ever figure them out;
4). Such things are one of the many aspects of extraterrestrial technology related to the UFO core phenomenon. They are therefore intelligently guided and can have purposeful interactions with humans;
Above this line are physical reductionist theories; below it are "paranormal" theories.
5). Such things are manifestations of God's Will in the world, and are therefore to be regarded as moments of revelation, transformation, guardianship. This action may be regarded as directly issuing from God, or via an angelic intermediary;
6). Such things are manifestations of the Spirit World. By this is meant whatever the source of "common" experiences of "hauntings" or apparitions of a non-religious figure type may be. Such olden-style events as the auguries communicating the death of friends or relatives [glowing figures coming out of the forests et al]. Such incidents are usually connected to "meaning" of some kind;
7). Such things are manifestations of the "Faerie" world. Faerie here would include folkloric entities from all cultures differing from the High God/Creator and his loyal angels;
8). Such things are generated by some powers within ourselves, usually latent unless trained by deep "monastic" commitment, but occasionally released by unusual circumstance. This theory does not view this as some physical [normal energy] release in analogy to a Persinger earthlight. The released light has a spiritworld foundation.
As said... incomplete. Add your own.
I'm going to continue my blunder with something that I know a little more about than some of the others: earthlights// lightfields// BOLs. Let's thrash about a little there, and see if it leads anywhere.....
BOLs and Lightfields: These things are, of course, all over the UFO scene and in the casefiles. Some of the reports are from "consistent" locations {like Goldhill, NC above}, and some are seemingly unique encounters {such as many of the "Stalking BOL" incidents, some of which have been discussed several times on this blog}. The big question is, of course: Are all these sorts of reports about the same things? Some could be natural phenomena of a diffuse plasmaball type, some a type of UFO technology, some denizens of Faerie, some so far Out Proctor we haven't even labeled them yet. And folks.... this is one upon which I haven't a clue.
But I'm going to ramble anyway. My ramble says this: SOME of this pile of mystery IS "intelligent" in some sense of the word. Why?
When we meditate upon the famous lightfield areas [Hessdalen at the top and bottom above, and Marfa in the middle, as examples], it's a pretty comfortable hypothesis that these things are going to ultimately be some sort of physical textbook phenomenon. Look at the bottom picture, for instance: one of the Hessdalen research groups was able to get a fairly spectacular spectrum of the lightform, which looks like a good old physics-in-the-universe type of reading. To my mind, it would be easy to insert some high-technology "underneath" that physics result [i.e. make it a UFO], but going beyond that into the paranormal takes some extra theoretical dancing
do spirits emit lawfully physical light? Maybe they do, but there's suddenly a greater discussion to be had.
But maybe we'll be forced to have such a discussion regardless.
An Italian physicist [I have potential to butcher this name], Massimo Teodorani, became interested in the Hessdalen phenomenon, and went there all powered up with hightech equipment to study the lights. Many results were obtained. This positive experience fired Teodorani up for more. He trekked to several other locations around the planet, again harvesting many results. He came to the strong conclusion that these "traditional" lightfield areas DID produce or harbor light phenomena, the debunkers were full of swamp gas, and any serious scientific observers could see it for themselves. BUT..............
He began to get the creepy feeling that these lightforms were not merely some kind of inert albeit dynamic plasmas, but were, in some way inconceivable, intelligent. Well.... WHOOPS.
One can imagine the Olde Folk chuckling in their Mead. Yep, those youngsters, takes them a long time to see these things doesn't it? And, therefore, is Folk Tradition and its imagery making an inroad into the sacred ground of textbook science?
Mark Fox, RERC, and Alister Hardy would second that.
But whereas Fox and Hardy would like the intelligent lights in the lightfields idea, the RERC files don't seem to include much of this sort of material. A case which vaguely fits our current category is the following:
1968: Irish Hills, MI. Two couples were vacationing in a rented cottage. One couple was sitting in their car, drinking beer [other activities not mentioned], and.....
"Suddenly she got very tense and nervous and said there's something out there. About this time the other couple had come along and asked what was wrong and she told them the same thing. My friend and I said we would go up the road and see if we could see anything. My girlfriend became very upset and insisted that we both stay with them in the car. There were absolutely no noises of any kind from insects or other wildlife whatsoever, which was most unusual as it was a rather warm summer night.

"As he and I approached the road to the cottage area, I noticed a pulsating light down the road at a distance, that was the shape of a surfboard and appeared to be hovering about a foot off the ground. Knowing that I was not drunk or hallucinating and not wanting to sound crazy, I said nothing but was greatly relieved when he asked me if I saw that light, and being relieved, said, yes.
"As I stated, the light seemed to pulsate, first dimming and then growing brighter. My friend who was a good deal braver than I, started walking towards the light in spite of my suggestion that we return to the girls and the car. As we approached, or rather tried to approach the light, it would recede from us and only return when we would backtrack our footsteps. Several attempts were made to approach and each time the light would recede."

I.E. REPEATERS}}.
This "dance" with the lightform ended when the two guys heard a sound coming towards them through the brush off the road to their left. This sound approached; then it too seemed to back away. The respondent's friend wanted to penetrate into the bush after it, whatever "it" was. Perhaps fortunately the brush became too thick and pretty much impenetrable, so they quit that idea. They returned to the road and turned towards the car.
Suddenly the noise erupted again much closer. They stopped.
"Suddenly from a bush directly in front of us came a single loud expulsion of air as if someone's dying breath. I was petrified and the knife literally fell from my hand and I couldn't move. I don't know how long I stood there but vaguely remember... my friend pulling my arm and leading me back to the car.
"Upon our return to the car, both girls themselves were in a state of terror, and stated that they felt as if they were being watched and heard heavy breathing. It was at this point that the experience was just too much for me, and I broke down and started crying due to the terror that I had felt".
This incident has features that we have seen before in the great basket of BOL encounters, but is, of course, rather more dramatic [especially on the sounds and terror side] than one gets in those cases. It is also more terror-filled than the typical incidents reported by Fox in his book [which much more often are uplifting and/or consoling in nature]. This one seemed to be included by Fox, 1). because it was there, detailed, and illustrative of variety; and 2). was an impetus for the respondent to open up his mind to both wonderment and to exploration of spiritual practice [he chose Hatha Yoga]. Correctly or not, the respondent connects the shocking encounter as propelling him into a different awareness of and orientation to a larger world.
I'm going to pause here. [Sorry. Typical small gas-tank behavior by me nowadays.] I'll try to pick this trail up when I have something to say.... maybe in a day or two?... with luck.

Forgotten Humanoid And Other Encounters Of The Roaring 20S Part 3
During those turbulent times in between the two World Wars, right before the Wall Street Crash and the beginning of the Depression, there were little known and mostly hidden encounters with 'strangers' among us.
For various reasons, probably because of witness reluctance and faltering memories, many of the encounters reported from 1920 through 1929 were mainly ignored and poorly documented. But there is a core of incidents that appear to mirror what was going to occur in the not too distant future. I will attempt to cover some of the least known incidents reported during the time, not only 'humanoid' encounters but other high-strangeness events:
In a 1984 article in "'Fate'" magazine, authors Rob McGregor and Trish Janeshutz recount an extremely bizarre and improbable tale occurring sometime in the year 1926 near the location of Ancud, southern Chile, without going into any speculations I will present the following narrative from the article:
The 18-year old brother of Marcelino Zaldivia was sleeping one night on the porch when he disappeared and was not found until Easter week of 1976 when Marcelino, feeling nostalgic about his lost brother visited their old home on the banks of the Rio Pudeto. There seated in the living room and dressed as he'd been half a century earlier, was his brother, now old and evidently demented. When Marcelino asked where he'd been all those years, the man replied only that he'd been on a 'boat' and implored him not to ask anything more. When a woman named Elena Vera Guerrero asked him about it, he shook his head and said, "They hear everything."
This area of southern Chile has been the scene of numerous other bizarre and similar tales. Whatever happened to the unfortunate 18-year old perhaps will never be known, I do wonder who he meant when he said, "They hear everything."
Seasoned Polish researchers Bronislaw Rzepecki and Marcin Mioduszewski provided me with an interesting case from the area of Ujazd, Poland said to have occurred one afternoon in September of 1926. The case both involved a disc and related entities:
The witness (Zofia) was alone in a meadow grazing three cows when she suddenly turned around and saw three gray discs (about 2 meters in diameter) hovering just above the ground and three strange entities standing in front of them. There was total silence. All three objects had something resembling opened doors. The humanoids were less than 120-130 cm tall, maybe about 80 cm, and wore dark green suits and something like belts or ropes around their waists. She was unable to see any hair or facial features as the humanoids stood about 100 meters away staring at her. Very scared she began running away. She briefly turned around and everything was gone.
From French researchers Joel Mesnard & Michel Morel Seythoux we get a brief summary mentioned in the "UFO magazine FSR Vol. 37 # 1" of a case which would have been labeled as a CE3 type 'A' (occupants seen within UFO) using modern UFO research classifications:
Location. La Combe De Morbier, Jura, France
Date: Winter 1926 Time: evening
A woodcutter reported seeing a large brightly lit sphere hovering at treetop level, several figures, human-like in appearance could be seen inside the object. These apparently ignored the witness.
Quoting Italian UFO researcher Paolo Fiorino in "UFO Universe" another CE3 type 'A' incident was reported sometime in 1927, one morning, in Corbola, Rovigo, Italy:
One morning while a 12-year old girl was going to fetch drinking water at the River Po she saw a shiny and round object come from the sky, it later crashed in the water seven meters away from her. After a couple of minutes, the witness noticed a big bubble in the water and later the object resurfaced and flew away disappearing in the sky. The girl had the chance to observe the interior of the object and saw a little man who seemed to be seated because he was only visible from the neck and above. The facial features were human looking and he was not wearing a helmet. The object, which emitted a hissing noise, had a diameter of 2-3 meters.
Researcher and author Jacques Vallee illustrates another similar case in his book CONFRONTATIONS: A Scientist's Search for Alien Contact the following is a summary of this very interesting case:
Location. Near Yakima Washington
Date: late April 1928 Time: 1600
Harry Dillon was driving along an unpaved country road when as he reached the top of a slight rise he saw an object slowly coming into the view. The object was described as resembling a metallic hexagon with a dome on top, olive drab in color. The witness could see rivets along a vertical section and a two by three foot window set in a metallic frame. In the window he could see the upper torso of a man dressed in a dark blue uniform. The man had a dark complexion and was totally human-like. He looked intently in the direction of the witness's car, and then the object rotated, flew across the road, and shot away at terrific speed.
"DEPICTION OF ENTITIES SEEN AT BOLTON"
Long time English researcher Norman Oliver shared with us in "Quest UFO Magazine Vol. 11 # 4" a humanoid sans UFO encounter said to have occurred on November of 1928 one late evening in Bolton, Lancashire, England:
A young boy, Henry Thomson, playing with a gang of friends was running through a dark alley when he saw in the backyard of a house three strange figures peering into a lighted living room. The central figure was tallest; it turned and looked at the witness. He mumbled at the other two and they all turned. A wide black eyepiece divided down the center by a ribbed silver piece covered the face of the tall entity. All three appeared to be wearing inflatable rubber suits with dark boots. On their heads were transparent dome-like helmets. Tubes came from these and joined tanks that were on their backs. They had pale heads shaped like light bulbs, slit-like eyes, scarcely any nose, and no visible mouth. One made a strange noise, and all three began to move toward the boy. He ran away from the area in terror.
One of the strangest incidents of this roaring decade was said to have taken place one morning sometime in 1929 in Hertford, England. The incident is summarized by researchers and authors Janet and Colin Bord in Modern Mysteries of Britain: One Hundred Years of Strange Events It definitely involves a humanoid and an 'unorthodox' conveyance to say the least:
A sister, 5, and brother, 8, were playing in the garden one morning, at that date the road was a lane, with just two pairs of houses, one of which was theirs, and behind the houses there was an orchard. As they played, they heard the sound of an engine years later the sister would likened it to a quiet version of a trainer plane. Her brother and her looked up and saw, coming over the garden fence from the orchard, this small aeroplane (of biplane type) which swooped down and landed briefly, almost striking a dustbin. It remained there for possibly just a few seconds and then took off and was gone, but in that short the girl had a perfect view of the tiny biplane but also of a perfectly proportioned tiny pilot wearing a leather flying helmet, who waved to them as he took off. Neither she nor her brother spoke of the strange sight until years later. She estimated the wing-span of the tiny aircraft at no more than 12-15 inches, with the tiny pilot in perfect proportion thereto.
"
LARGER VERSION OF A 'REAL' TRAINER BIPLANE"
A more 'mundane' incident (if there is such a word in the world of humanoid encounters) was given to me by veteran Brazilian researcher Antonio Faleiro from "Passa Tempo Minas Gerais". It consists of brief but very interesting details of an incident said to have occurred in 1929 (no specific month) in the town of Paraguaco, Minas Gerais Brazil:
One night a large shiny white metallic craft with several window-like apertures was seen on the ground. Two giant humanoid figures about 2.50 meters in height stood next to the object. These wore silvery outfits and brown boots and gloves. No other information.
In his excellent book When Saucers came to Earth: The Story of the Italian UFO Landings in the Golden Era of the Flying Saucers Italian researcher and author Maurizio Verga gives us the following very 'high strangeness' report:
Location. Roccagloriosa, Salerno, Italy
Date: summer 1929 Time: 1400
A girl was working in a field when she looked up and saw a stationary ball of white light in the sky. This then descended vertically, stopping just a few centimeters above the ground, while descending the ball greatly dimmed creating a sort of "opening" in the center of the sphere. After 5 or 10 seconds, a female figure emerged from the opening wearing sumptuous black garments, "like those from the 19th century". Inside of the ball, 2 or 3 small beings moved slowly and peered outward. The female figure walked toward the witness, without her feet touching the ground. Thereafter, she turned left and was lost in some trees. The girl was frightened and made the sign of the cross. She then ran to call her father. When he arrived at the landing site, he smelled the fragrance of roses.
There seems to be a combination of unusual factors in this case. The female entity could have been interpreted as a type of 'Marian' vision, the small beings unfortunately are not described, but in modern terms they could represent 'aliens'. The fragrance of roses at the site is also interesting, which tips the balance to the Marian vision hypothesis. Whatever took place was definitely out of the ordinary.
According to French Canadian UFO researcher Henri Bourdeleau on or about June 15 1929 at Fermeneuve, Quebec, Canada what appears to have been a close encounter of the third kind took place:
Louis Brosseau, riding home to Fermeneuve, saw on a hillside a sort of black "cloud" with a yellowish light coming from within. Approaching on foot to within 150 ft, he saw it to be a dark object on the ground; he could indistinctly see, in the darkness, 4 or 5 small "yellowish" colored men running around in a 20-foot radius. The dark object rose coming from it he heard 2 voices as if in argument. The object was about 50 ft in diameter, with windows "lit like the moon," and with black protuberances 3 ft apart all around the circumference.
Quoting an entry on the "NUFORC" site (National UFO reporting center) we learn of an alleged incident said to have taken place one afternoon on July 5 1929 near Burns, Oregon:
The witnesses were traveling east of town climbing up through a cut in the rim rocks when an object, very slowly flew over the top of the car, about 50 ft above the rim rock. The object stopped and through a transparent window the witnesses could see two completely human-like figures that appeared to be pointing down at them using their arms and hands. One of the witnesses stepped out of the car but his mother demanded that he get back in. He stood on the running board observing the craft, which was two tones of brown. The craft, which had windows in the middle section, hovered for about 40 seconds emitting a soft hum. One of the figures then moved to another window and the craft suddenly accelerated and was gone in a blink of an eye.
Russian researcher and author Aleksey K. Priyma in his book "UFOs: Witnesses to the Unknown" (later quoted in Soviet Ufo Files: Paranormal Encounters Behind The Iron Curtain) mentions another close encounter case that allegedly took place in the Pestovskiy area in the Novgorod region Russia, one day in August of 1929. It again involved an object with occupants seen inside through a clear or glass-like dome:
17-year old Anna Petrovna Poletayeva was walking on a road on her way to visit her parents. The road passed next to Gusevskoye Lake and as she glanced at the lake she noticed a flying craft hovering above the lake. The object was round, small, without wings. Its lower part was yellow-reddish in color, resembling copper. The upper part was a glassy cupola. The glass from the cupola was joined to the lower part by large "copper" bolts. The UFO hovered about 15 meters above the water. Anna could see two small sized "people" inside the glassy cupola one male the other female. They were dressed in gray tight-fitting suits. Oggi, invece `e la volta di un sessantenne recanatese lavoratore in un'azienda agricola che, trovandosi nelle campagne di Montecassiano a bordo di un trattore, aveva deciso di scattare alcune foto alle belle campagne in cui si trovava. Ignorando di non essere free. "Avevo la digitale in mano - racconta Ivo Domizi - e mi apprestavo a scattare qualche foto ai panorami agresti quando ho notato un oggetto che stava abbassandosi sopra di me. Il ratio di accendere la macchina fotografica, puntarla sull'oggetto che stava riempiendo una buona parte dell'obiettivo ed effettuare uno scatto e lo stesso si `e fiondato lontanissimo. Dalle parti del Conero. Ho avuto per`o il ratio di ammirare l'eccezionale numero di luci accese nella parte sottostante l'ipotetica astronave. Una sorta di sciame di led widen nel film di Spielberg "E.T.". E soprattutto, fatto che mi ha reso inquieto, l'eccezionale diametro del mezzo. Saranno stati almeno 50 metri! Vi posso assicurare che non sono pazzo e che non avevo bevuto...". A Curious Ufo Case Over Winnipeg
This particular UFO report is intriguing, yet I was sure I had it figured out. Then I had my explanation shot to heck.
It started when I received a note from CFB Winnipeg that a UFO sighting had been reported to the Winnipeg Police Service on Sunday night, August 23, 2009.
The note read:
This evening at 00:45 Local I received a phone call here at 17 Wing Operations from the Military Police who had taken a phone call from 911 (City Police). The city Police reported to him they had a UFO sighting reported to them. The only information that was passed on to me was that it was triangular in shape and flew over Winnipeg.
Not much, but interesting, since this was the first UFO sighting in a long time that I was told about where the witness reported the incident to the police. This meant, presumably, that the police investigated and that their report would be available.
No such luck. My initial inquiry of the police received a response that the report had not yet been completed and that I would have to file a request later when it was completed. Now here's the thing; when a murder victim is discovered, the police hold a news conference and make many details available to the public within a matter of hours. The case is investigated immediately and results or comments of one kind or another are available to media. But a report known to have been made to the police regarding a UFO over the city? No information available.
Then I received an email from someone who had witnessed a UFO over Winnipeg, specifically St. Norbert, on that same Sunday night. This supported the initial info about the police report, so something must have definitely been in the sky.
I soon received a sighting report from the witness and her two other co-witnesses. This is what they wrote:
It was approx. 11:11pm. My son and I were sitting in the living room. I looked up and saw a strange set of (yellowish-orange) lights just over my neighbour's tree. I looked closer and realized they were not from a plane as they were in a triangle shape. Then there was a horrific droning noise, the windows shook it sounded like it was going to land on my house or like the engines were gearing down. When I looked at my son he was holding his head in terrible pain saying that there was an 'invisible high pitched whistling sound.' At the exact same time we both doubled over in pain holding our stomachs as we felt a huge energy surge go through us and the house. I felt that if I had been standing, I would have collapsed. We felt like throwing up and were very weak. The energy was overwhelming and scary. We were very shaken up.
I text messaged my friend and she came right over. We talked for a bit and looked out different windows. When we went to the back kitchen window all 3 of us saw something flying erratically. First we thought it was a helicopter until it went really high and then dropped a few hundred feet really fast then disappeared. Then through a set of trees my son saw one UFO split into two UFOs and disappeared. We went outside.
The neighbourhood had a eerie feeling, silence and and energy. We walked to a back lane and my son experienced the same intense whistling sensation and was holding his head again. However, when we moved a few feet away from the spot the pain went away. I also became nauseous again in the same spot.
We called the (non-emergency city inquiry) 311 number to see if there was a number to call about this. The guy on the 311 line assured me I wasn't out of my mind and told us that two of his friends had experienced the same thing. (I don't know when.)
We called the police and they came out within 10 minutes which we thought was kinda weird so we think they knew more than they were saying like they already knew about it.
I am not sure if it is just a coincidence but I have experienced a few intense pains since yesterday. My family and I have experienced several experiences with orbs, angels and ghosts over the years. We are open to a lot of different possibilities in the world but this was definitely a new one for us.
She noted:
If you have any insight you could share with us it would be appreciated. Thank you for allowing us to share our experience. We are excited, curious and just a bit scared shitless if I can be quite honest.

My first clue was from my own experience. We had been over at some friends' home Sunday night and had been in their back yard enjoying the nice summer night. They live in Fort Richmond, literally across the road from St. Norbert. At about 8:00 pm, we were nearly deafened by low-flying helicopters that were clearly visible through the trees. They were buzzing about 20 to 30 feet above the ditches along the road and we reasoned they were doing mosquito fogging or larvaciding, as we knew this was scheduled during the past week for that area.
It didn't seem to be a big jump to think that helicopters flying low and making erratic passes over St. Norbert (just 1/4 mile away) could be interpreted as something otherworldly. In addition, if they were actually fogging, then since some people react badly to the insecticide, breathing it in might cause nausea, and the loud noise would be the helicopter's engine.
Simple investigation and explanation? Right?
