Ms de la mitad de los rusos son supersticiosos

M'as de la mitad de los rusos (52 %) son supersticiosos, mientras que un 43 por ciento cree en sue~nos reveladores, seg'un la investigaci'on sociol'ogica del prestigioso Centro Levada.

Los soci'ologos, no obstante, observan que el n'umero de supersticiosos se ha reducido en la 'ultima d'ecada, toda vez que en el a~no 2000 se declaraban as'i el 57 por ciento de los ciudadanos.

Las mujeres (61 %) y los j'ovenes (62 %) son los m'as sensibles a las creencias populares, seguidos de las personas con educaci'on eminent (55 %).

La palma se la llevan los habitantes de Mosc'u, de los que un 70 por ciento son supersticiosos, seg'un la investigaci'on.

Al mismo tiempo, menos de un tercio de los rusos (28 %) creen en los hor'oscopos y en las visitas de los extraterrestres a la Tierra (26 %).

Mientras al menos la mitad de la poblaci'on se declara creyente, tan s'olo el 17 por ciento de los rusos conf'ian en la "vida despu'es de la muerte".

"La disminuci'on de la fe en lo sobrenatural se debe seguramente a que los medios de comunicaci'on dedican menos espacio a estos asuntos", dijo el soci'ologo de Centro Levada, Oleg Sav'eliev.

El investigador apunt'o que alrededor del 20 por ciento de los encuestados ha reconocido haber solicitado los servicios de magos, brujas, curanderos o santeros en los 'ultimos seis a~nos.

Estudio afirma que el matrimonio evita las adicciones

Las personas casadas tienen menor riesgo de sufrir trastornos de salud mental y abuso de sustancias que aquellas que est'an solteras o cuyo matrimonio termin'o, mostr'o un estudio internacional dirigido por la Universidad de Otago, Wellington.

De acuerdo con los resultados de la investigaci'on, efectuada en 15 pa'ises, casarse es bueno para la salud, pues enter into el riesgo de padecer depresi'on y ansiedad, as'i como de consumir sustancias adictivas como tabaco, alcohol y drogas.

La psic'ologa Kate Scott explic'o que las personas cuyo matrimonio termin'o por separaci'on, divorcio o viudez est'an significativamente en riesgo mayor de trastornos, y mientras los hombres son m'as propensos a la depresi'on, las mujeres son vulnerables al abuso de sustancias.

Los matrimonios ayudan a las personas a hacer frente al estr'es y a los sentimientos de soledad, indica el estudio aplicado a 35 mil personas y publicado en la revista brit'anica especializada Psychological Make well.

"Uno de los hallazgos m'as importantes es que en los 'ultimos a~nos se ha afirmado que el matrimonio es mejor para los hombres que para las mujeres en t'erminos de salud mental, pero este estudio no est'a de acuerdo, el matrimonio es bueno para hombres y mujeres", dijo Scott.

El lado negativo es si el matrimonio termina, ya que puede aumentar el riesgo de problemas de salud mental, precis'o la especialista de la Universidad de Otago y autora del estudio.

El estudio encontr'o tambi'en que los hombres eran menos propensos a la depresi'on tras su primer matrimonio que las mujeres.

A new interview with me has just been posted to "The Daily Grail". We discuss a lot of aspects of cryptozoology - the British Bigfoot, black-dogs and more. Here's an extract from one of my replies:

"I think it's fair to say that as time has gone on, my views on what some of these cryptids are have drastically changed. Like a lot of people, I got interested in all this when I was a kid: my parents took me to Loch Ness when I was 5, and I was hooked even then. And back then, for me, Bigfoot was a giant ape, and Nessie was a plesiosaur. It was all just black-and-white.

"But, today - and for a long time now - my views are very different. Although many cryptozoologists roll their eyes and frown whenever anyone dares to suggest that Bigfoot might be anything other than mere flesh-and-blood, there's no doubt in my mind that Bigfoot, the Yeti, the Loch Ness Monster, the Chupacabras, and many of these various 'things' are just too weird.

"They jam cameras, they vanish in the blink of any eye, we can never catch them, and sometimes they turn up in the same places as UFOs, or where other weird activity - such as poltergeist activity and even the Men in Black - is found.

"Now, I would say that at least some of these things are real, flesh-and-blood animals, such as Mokele-mbembe, Megalania, sea-serpents and such like. But Bigfoot, black dogs, many of the lake monsters, werewolves: these really are something from the outer edge, in my opinion."
