Esen Sekerkarar was born in Izmir, Turkey. She graduated from Istanbul University where she studied Latin Language and Literature.
Apart from her childhood interest, she became involved in the UFO field in 1998 with the opening of the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center (SUSSRC) where she worked until 2002. SUSSRC is the first such center in Turkey and it has organized three International UFO Symposiums of Eastern Europe, Balkans and Middle East in Istanbul, and many of the worlds leading authorities have participated as speakers, including Nick Pope, Timothy Good, Budd Hopkins, Dr. David Jacobs, Dr. John Mack and Stanton Friedman. The Center also made a weekly TV documentary called UFO Reality, co-produced by Esen, which was broadcast on a national TV channel in Turkey.
Esen has made various translations into English from Turkish articles and case reports about UFOs and related subjects as well as a translation of a book into Turkish. She is also one of the three founders of the International UFO Museum, which was opened in January 2002 in Istanbul, becoming the fourth such museum in the world. The Museum is located right at the center of the over 10-million-populated-city of Istanbul, which connects the two continents, Asia and Europe.
Esen Sekerkarar first started lecturing internationally at the San Marino World UFO Congress. She was also one of the guest speakers at the prestigious MUFON International UFO Symposium, held in Rochester, New York. She is also the International MUFON Representative for Turkey. She continues her work as a freelance researcher, lecturer, translator and teacher of English and Turkish.
